JACOB PRASCH: THE BLOOD OF THE GOAT!!!

For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins" (Hebrews 10:4).

The Red Heifer Part 1 by Jacob Prasch:
"Jesus is typified not only as the Lamb of God and the Scapegoat, but also as the Red Heifer - the Corbanim. The Red Heifer completes our cleansing and purification - Tumiah and Tahera in our lives." {1}
(Notice the application of the first person plural pronoun 'our' and the present tense).

Prasch's various references to the blood of the goat:

Prasch refers to "the blood of the scapegoat" at least twice in his video The Red Heifer Part 1 {1}

 "How many songs have we heard about the blood of the scapegoat?"

"We know that Jesus is the Lamb, but most Christians don't realise He is also the goat."

 "Thank you Lord for the blood of the goat."

"Why do you need the blood of the goat as well as the blood of the Lamb?"

In his video, The Life Is In The Blood at Fellowship Bible Chapel, Prasch teaches that the goat released into the wilderness (i.e. the scapegoat in Leviticus 16), had to die. {2}

Prasch: "..so they had to take it 90 stadia..  into the wilderness of Judah and push it off a cliff, this was the Azazel. The Azazel still has to die you understand. They tried to take Jesus and throw him off the cliff..  They had the wrong goat - you understand. He was the other goat - He had to die in Jerusalem. It was the Azazel who died outside Jerusalem.. (!!) they had the wrong goat.. The Jews tried to identify Jesus with the Azazel and tried to push him off a cliff.. (Luke 4:29). (12:30 mark)

Jesus died outside the city of Jerusalem:

So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. . (Hebrews 13:12-13 cf. John 19:20).

Benson: "..the expression, without the gate, was of the same import as without the camp in the wilderness. Wherefore criminals, being regarded as unclean, were always put to death without the gates of their cities." {3}

Prasch makes at least five assumptions from the Mishnah! (Titus 1:14).
  1. Jesus is the goat.
  2. The scapegoat was pushed off a cliff.
  3. The scapegoat shed its blood.
  4. The scapegoat has the status of a sacrifice.
  5. When the Jews attempted to throw Jesus down a cliff in Luke 4:29 they identified him with Azazel.
In Leviticus 16, the scapegoat was one of a pair of goats. One of the goats (not the scapegoat) was sacrificed as a sin offering. The living goat, the scapegoatwas sent into the wilderness, taking with it all the sins and impurities of the people of Israel:

Then he shall take the two goats and set them before the LORD at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for Azazel. And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot fell for the LORD and use it as a sin offering, but the goat on which the lot fell for Azazel shall be presented alive before the LORD to make atonement over it, that it may be sent away into the wilderness to Azazel. (Leviticus 16:7-10)

And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness. The goat shall bear all their iniquities on itself to a remote area, and he shall let the goat go free in the wilderness. (Leviticus 16:21-22).

Mishnah Yoma 6:6: "He (the conductor) divided the tongue of crimson wool: the half of it he tied to the rock, and the second half between his [the scapegoat's] horns; he pushed him down backward. He went rolling and falling down; he did not reach halfway of the mountain before he became separated limb from limb. He [the conductor] returned to sit down under the last booth, till dark. And since when became his clothes unclean? After he had issued from the walls of Jerusalem. R. Simeon says: After he had pushed it down from the rock." {4}

The fate of the scapegoat in Yoma 6:6 is ambivalent and contradicts the scriptures. The Torah repeatedly refers to it as "הַשָּׂעִיר הֶחָי"‎5 and speaks of it merely being sent away rather than ritually slaughtered or killed. This ritual finds a close parallel in the leprosy purification process described only two chapters earlier in Vayikra 14. There, the Torah similarly mandates the bringing of two birds,7 one of which is slaughtered while the second is set free.8 Rabbinic tradition, however, dictates that the Azazel goat is to be thrown off a cliff.9 What leads the Rabbis to adopt this position, and how can it be squared with the plain reading of the scriptures? Additionally, if the goat is indeed killed, does it have the status of a sacrifice?10 {5}

The Jews attempt to throw Jesus down a cliff finds a possible parallel in Chronicles 2:25:12 i.e. this method was used as an improvised method of execution in Amaziah’s treatment of the Edomite prisoners. "This form of punishment is only mentioned in 2 Chronicles 25:12; but in Phocis it was the punishment for sacrilege. (Philo.)" {6}

Ironically, Prasch recently attempted to defend his "Metatron" heresy, stating that he only uses rabbinic sources for the purpose of evangelizing ultra-Orthodox and Hasidic Jews based on Acts 17:23. He condemns Kabballah and the Rabbinic tradition as "absolutely occult". {7} There does not seem to be a satisfactory explanation as to why Prasch taught this heresy at the non-Jewish church Devore Truth (Community Church of Devore) CA in 2019. {8} Prasch's distortion of the scriptures with the Mishnah when teaching "The Blood Of The Goat" to non-Jewish congregations such as Fellowship Bible Chapel is yet another instance of his duplicity.

Azazel appears in the bible as an obscure entity that receives a scapegoat of sin from Aaron in Leviticus 16. However, the Book of 1 Enoch and other apocryphal texts refer to Azazel as a Watcher i.e. a fallen angel who corrupted man and opposed God.

The Book of 1 Enoch is generally not considered to be canonical. However, a number of Christian denominations accept it as having some historical or theological interest. 1 Enoch contains unique material regarding the origins of demons and giants, the reason some angels fell from heaven, an explanation of why the Great Flood was morally necessary, and prophetic exposition of the millennial reign of the Messiah. {9} 1 In particular, the story of Azazel in 1 Enoch appears to have a connection with Genesis 6:4 and the biblical account of the fall of the angels located on Mount Hermon.

And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals 〈of the earth〉 and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. (1 Enoch 8:1-2).

Thou seest what Azâzêl hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which men were striving to learn: (1 Enoch 9:6).

Interestingly, the account of Azazel's punishment in 1 Enoch 10 has some similarities with the scapegoat rite:

And again the Lord said to Raphael: 'Bind Azâzêl hand and foot, and cast him into the darkness: and make an opening in the desert, which is in Dûdâêl, and cast him therein. And place upon him rough and jagged rocks, and cover him with darkness, and let him abide there for ever, and cover his face that he may not see light. And on the day of the great judgement he shall be cast into the fire. And heal the earth which the angels have corrupted, and proclaim the healing of the earth, that they may heal the plague, and that all the children of men may not perish through all the secret things that the Watchers have disclosed and have taught their sons. And the whole earth has been corrupted through the works that were taught by Azâzêl: to him ascribe all sin.' (1 Enoch 10:4-8)

We should completely reject Prasch's heretical rantings on the subject of "the blood of the goat".

But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God. (Hebrews 9:11-14).

He does away with the first in order to establish the second. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (Hebrews 10:8–10).

  1. JP is the heretical gift that just keeps on giving. All of the OT sacrifices spoke of Christ, but nowhere in the NT do we see the blood of bulls, goats or pigeons referred to as that which we should specifically honour as regards Christ, other than the Lamb of the Passover.
    The problem with false teachers such as this is they cannot admit fault and receive correction. This is the sin of Lucifer (Heylel in Hebrew) and we should not heed anyone who cannot humbly receivw correction. This goes for many others who may have some good things to say, but who are unteachable (egs. Doreen Virtue, Justin Peters, Joshua Chavez. John MacArthur etc. etc - The list goes on.)
    I came out of years of Pentecostal error. It was devastating to realise i had been so sincerely wrong for so long. It has made me very cautious and also very willing to acknowledge that I can be wrong. I will only listen to others of a like mind. There are worse things than admitting you have been deceived by false teaching. My best, Mike

  2. Thank you Mike. I did not listen to this video until recently. What struck me: Prasch's blatant contradiction of Hebrews 13:12-13 i.e. his statement that Jesus had to die "in Jerusalem" in order to justify his 'blood of the goat' heresy. It just sickens me. God bless.

  3. I’d be interested to know why Justin Peters is bracketed with Jacob Prasch! Oh, except they both have the same initials! Mr Prasch I’ve known for 30+ years, and he listens to no one. Justin Peters has always come across as a humble man. Am I wrong?

  4. Prasch's close associate Servus Christi aka Joshua Chavez seems to have devoted himself to attacking Justin Peters John.

    Justin Peters is a Calvinist which is a huge problem for me. However as you say, he does come across as very humble and I believe his version of events.
