SPENCER SMITH''S MYSOGYNY ~ GOING BEYOND WHAT IS WRITTEN

"The Wicked Truth About Women Who Want to Preach" - Spencer Smith Livestream!

This video comprises two solid hours of Spencer Smith's misogynistic teaching. Not only is he biblically inaccurate, he obviously has a major attitude problem and a lack of respect and Christian love for women.

Smith weighs straight in by pulling up a comment by one of his viewers:

Smith: "Has God called women to be the centre of attention and articulate general theology to the masses? Maybe we could call that preaching.. I think the answer to that is no, God has not called women to do anything like that."  Another viewer chimed in, "it is narcissism".

After plugging his teaching 'Rise of the Divine Feminine', Smith continues: "I think women are being used by Satan today to cause a lot of chaos and a lot of problems in the local church."

To clarify, I am not egalitarian and I have no desire whatsoever to be a pastor or an elder in any church. Furthermore, I would not attend a church with a woman pastor or women elders.

The Bible gives no directions about women's freedom (or not) to discuss faith and theology outside the church. Spencer Smith has taken it upon himself to add to the scriptures and go beyond what is written. As far as I can determine, it is permissible for women to hold opinions and to voice them, especially if the scriptures back them up!

I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. (1 Corinthians 4:6 cf. Proverbs 30:5-6).

Ironically, those who go beyond what is written are described in the scriptures as arrogant and divisive! Those who engage in this kind of rhetoric do immense damage to the body of Christ and stunt the growth of believers.

If Smith can bear to humble himself for a little while, then he should listen to Mike Winger's series: Women Leaders in the New Testament. Part 4 is particularly relevant to the present discussion: Women Leaders in the New Testament: Women in Ministry part 4  Winger: "We will examine claims that there were women apostles, women elders, women deacons and various other hints that some say offer us evidence of women in very significant leadership positions in the New Testament. We will also get into the 1 Timothy and Titus and the requirements that Paul gives for elders and deacons." Winger has inserted subheadings and I think that many will find the following sections very helpful:
11. 1:29:24 What exactly is a deacon?
12. 1:36:04 Was Phoebe a deacon?
13. 1:53:16 1 Tim. 3, deacons’ wives or deaconesses?

Phoebe and women in the early church

I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant* of the church at Cenchreae, that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron (προστάτις) of many and of myself as well. (Romans 16:1-2).
* a deaconess

In the Greek, διάκονος is servant, minister, deacon.

Bible Hub: "Cultural and Historical Background: In the Greco-Roman world, a 'diakonos' was typically a servant or attendant who performed various duties. In the early Christian church, the term took on a more specific connotation, referring to those who served the community in both practical and spiritual matters. The role of a deacon, as outlined in the New Testament, was one of service and support, assisting the elders and apostles in the ministry of the church."1

In Philippians 1:1 Paul greets the deacons in a specific sense.
In 1 Timothy 3:8,12 refers to the offices of deacon and overseer.
In other instances διάκονος refers to servant in a generic sense.

Bible Hub: "The term 'prostatis' refers to a woman who acts as a leader, protector, or benefactor. In the context of the early Christian church, it denotes a woman who provided support, whether through financial means, hospitality, or leadership, to the community or individuals within it."2

Their wives (γυναῖκας) likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. (1 Timothy 3:11).

Paul acknowledges that women pray and prophesy in the church, indicating their active participation in worship. (1 Corinthians 11:5 cf. Acts 21:9).

Ruby Franke/Jodi Hildebrant

Smith goes into a lengthy discussion about two Mormon women, Ruby Franke and Jodi Hildebrant who ran a vlog in 2023. Wikipedia: "Ruby Franke (née Griffiths; born January 18, 1982) is an American convicted child abuser and former family vlogger who ran the now defunct YouTube channel 8 Passengers. On August 30, 2023, Franke and Jodi Hildebrant were arrested in Washington County, Utah, and charged with six counts of felony aggravated child abuse of two of Franke's children. Franke ultimately pleaded guilty to four counts and was sentenced to 4-30 years in prison on February 20, 2024." 3

Why does Spencer Smith judge unbelievers and why does he find it necessary to say that these women are representative of all women, even Christian women?

For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? (1 Corinthians 5:12).

When someone commented "Not all women are like this", Smith's responded: "There are obvious exceptions." In other words, 'the majority of women are like this'. Smith has now made two videos about these Mormon women, but frankly, this subject is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the body of Christ. Smith condemns the way these women presented themselves on social media: "My wife doesn't post pictures like that.." He goes on to second guess their motives as narcissistic and suggests that the pictures give out the message: 'Just look at me, hey look at my face, I'm a cutie, please give me that validation..' Obviously I do not endorse these women, but the pictures are not offensive or indecent and they are not flaunting themselves sexually. Christian women don't need any extra rules from Smith about how to present themselves! My best guess is that it suited Smith's purpose to make an example of these unsaved Mormon women to lash out against all women.

Smith has absolutely no authority to dictate to Christian women in a general sense. If he subjugates women within his own limited sphere of influence, and they are willing to put up with it, that is tragic. (2 Corinthians 1:24; 1 Peter 5:3; Proverbs 18:2).

SPENCER SMITH'S INAPPROPRIATE JESTING AKA FOOLISH TALK

 What is Jesting? (youtube.com)

In answer to Spencer Smith's charge that anyone who does not approve of his foolish talk has a humourless sour disposition and is miserable. We find our joy in the Lord Jesus Christ, not in Smith's version of humour, which apparently a number of people do not appreciate.

Smith: "Smite that like button and all your dreams will come true."  This is fairly typical of Smith's idea of a joke. The underlying motive is of course that he wants to get as many hits on his channel as possible in order to generate income. Smith spends an inordinate amount of time merchandising, touting for subscriptions and donations, offering rewards for watching his videos, competitions, giveaways etc. He repeatedly tells his viewers to "smite thine like button". Smith's self-serving worldly behaviour is unseemly for a man of God.

Smith: "There are a breed of people that think that anything like that is unspiritual.. I mean I don't want to be this prude where I'm just, you know, like some hermit in a monastery somewhere and I never smile. I don't think that's scriptural either.. and I did some studying in the Bible and I found out several things. I found out that God laughs, I find out that merry heart doeth good like a medicine, and I just don't think this humourless sour disposition is becoming of a Christian."

Smith's two absurd examples:

But you, O LORD, laugh at them; you hold all the nations in derision. (Psalm 59:8 cf. Psalm 2:4; 37:13; Proverbs 1:26). This expression does not concern God's humour, rather it expresses his contempt and derision.

A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. (Proverbs 15:13). Smith quotes half the verse which continues with the opposite of glad i.e. sorrow. The definition of glad (sameach) is glad, cheerful, merry. This verse does not concern jesting!

Benson: "Hebrew, of a good heart, that is, composed, quiet, and contented, conscious of intending God’s glory in all things, and of being devoted to his service in love and obedience; hath a continual feast — Hath constant satisfaction and delight in all conditions, yea, even in affliction."

Like many poor teachers, Smith doubles down on his ungodly behavior and attempts to justify it with the scriptures. Some have challenged Smith with Ephesians 5:3 regarding his inappropriate foolish talk or jesting. Smith proceeds to totally distort this verse to suit his own agenda. Ephesians 5:3 does, of course, refer to crude sexual jokes, but it also refers to "any kind of impurity or greed". In verse 4, Paul identifies idolatry as immorality impurity and greed. This passage is clearly not limited to crude sexual jokes! Several real theologians disagree with Smith's eisegesis of Ephesians 5:3.

But among you, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Ephesiains 5:3-4).

Barnes: "Nor foolish talking - This word - μωρολογία mōrologia - does not occur elsewhere in the New Testament. It means that kind of talk which is insipid, senseless, stupid, foolish; which is not suited to instruct, edify, profit - the idle 'chitchat' which is so common in the world. The meaning is, that Christians should aim to have their conversation sensible, serious, sincere - remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, "that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment;" Matthew 12:36."

Ellicott: "But rather giving of thanks.—The opposition is striking. 'The foolish talking and jesting' aim at mirth and play of mind; St. Paul will not austerely condemn, such light-heartedness, but he finds a wholesome and spiritual vent for it in the habitual expression of thankfulness to God, which proceeds from a natural and childlike cheerfulness. Exactly in the same spirit below (Ephesians 5:18-20) he contrasts the excitement of drunkenness with the being 'filled with the Spirit . . . giving thanks always for all things.'”

Meyer: "μωρολογία] is the carrying on of insipid, foolish talk. Antig. de Mirab. 126: μωρολωγίας καὶ ἀδολεσχίας, Arist. H. A. i. 11; Plut. Mor. 504 A.
εὐτραπελία] signifies properly ready versatility (from τρέπω and εὖ), urbanity; then specially a witty, jesting manner; and in a bad sense, as here, the witticism of frivolity, scurrilitas. See in general, Wetstein ad loc.; Dissen, ad Pind. p. 180; Krüger on Thuc. ii. 41. 1."

Isaac Barrow: "All profane jesting, all speaking loosely and wantonly about holy things (things nearly related to God and religion), making such things the matters of sport and mockery, playing and trifling with them, is certainly prohibited, as an intolerably vain and wicked practice. It is an infallible sign of a vain and light spirit, which considereth little, and cannot distinguish things, to talk slightly concerning persons of high dignity, to whom especial respect is due; or about matters of great importance, which deserve very serious consideration.."

But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness.. (2 Timothy 2:16).

I do not recommend Spencer Smith as a bible expositor for obvious reasons! I guess I will continue to be "miserable" and find my joy in the Lord! (Psalm 19:8).

KEITH FOSKEY ~THE IRREVERENT "KING OF THE AMILLENNIALSTS"

Keith Foskey is the "pastor" of Sovereign Grace Family Church in Jacksonville Florida, and is the host of Conversations with a Calvinist. I wonder how any serious bible believer can accept an obese "pastor" who glorifies himself as the "King of Amillennialists", wears a crown, turns our precious faith into a circus, and teaches faulty doctrines. (2 Peter 1:1). Foskey's lack of humility and trivialization of the scriptures is just as scandalous as any NAR false teacher. By biblical standards, Foskey does not meet the criteria of a true pastor. (Titus 1:7-16; James 5:5; Proverbs 23:2; Ezekiel 16:49).

At a charity event for Set Free ministry in Jacksonville On November 4th, Foskey was introduced as "The Right Reverend and High Holiness". 1 Is it legitimate to reduce the ministry of those called to serve God as elders and pastors to irreverent babble and comedy?  (2 Timothy 2:16). We do not find the apostles joking about their calling in this way! Foskey justifies his ungodly behaviour by quoting Proverbs 15:13 ~ A merry (שָׂמֵחַ) heart maketh a cheerful countenance (KJV). The adjective שָׂמֵחַ (sameach) does not refer to cheap jokes, it indicates glad joyful merry.. 2

John Gill: "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance,.... Or, a "joyful heart" (c); that is joyful in the God of its salvation; that rejoices in Christ Jesus; is filled with joy and peace through believing in him, in his person, blood, righteousness, and sacrifice; that has a comfortable view of his justification by his righteousness, of peace and pardon by his blood, of the atonement of his sins by his sacrifice; to whom he has said, "be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee", Matthew 9:2; who has peace in him, though tribulation in the world: as such a man's heart must be made glad, this will make his countenance cheerful, or cause him to lift up his head with joy; as it is in natural things, so it is in spiritual ones;"

Those who go along with Foskey in this foolishness, including Spencer Smith, should repent and have nothing to do with his unseemly behaviour and false doctrines. 4

Foskey delights in issuing "kingly" decrees:

"..pre-millennialists and dispensational pre-millennialists must choose a representative to joust on the bow of Ken Ham's Ark every seven years between now and the time that Jesus returns." 5

Amillennialism is the incorrect view that the “thousand years” of Christ’s reign in Revelation 20:1-6 should be interpreted symbolically rather than as a literal period of one thousand years. Amillennialists allegorize and reinterpret the book of Revelation and various Old Testament passages that describe the millennium as a physical kingdom. The doctrine of premillennialism was the consensus of the majority of the early Church Fathers ~  although it is important to note that the early Fathers were not pretribulational. Amillennialism was originally introduced in the fourth century by Augustine of Hippo and Origen.

In Foskey's own words: "We do not believe that the millennium is a literal thousand-year period, but what that thousand years represents is the time between Christ's first coming and His second coming or his final coming, and we call that the inter-advent period the period between his two advents he came once and he will come again and the time between his first and second coming is known as the millennial age that's where we are.." 6

Foskey: "How can we conclude that Satan is bound right now?"

..how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? (Matthew 12:29). Jesus' parabolic question is probably based on Isaiah 49:24-25. The scriptures indicate that at the beginning of the millennium, "the strong man" i.e. Satan, is bound for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:1-2). The amillennial view that Satan was bound at the cross is neither practical or realistic for a number of reasons outlined below.

Various deficiencies in the Amillennial view 7

Revelation 19 and 20 are sequential events stemming from the return of Christ in chapter 19. Amillennialists limit their eisegesis to an isolated view of Revelation 20.
The reign of Christ with His saints is contingent upon a literal resurrection of the dead, not as amillennialists assert, from an unregenerate life of sin to the point of conversion or regeneration.  (Revelation 20:4-5).
In Revelation 20:3 Satan is bound in order to to prevent him from deceiving the nations.
In Revelation 12:9 Satan is described as the deceiver of the whole world.
In Revelation 12:12-13 the dragon (Satan) is thrown down to the earth.
In Revelation 20:1-2 Satan is banished from the earth and is thrown into the Abyss. This event coincides with the beginning of the future millennial reign of Christ. Satan cannot be confined to the earth and imprisoned in the Abyss simultaneously.
Satan is active and powerful in the present evil age. (Galatians 1:4 1 John 5:19; 2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 Peter 5:18 etc.)
During the millennial age described in Revelation 20, there is a total cessation of Satan's activity until he is released from the Abyss after the thousand years are complete. (Revelation 20:7).
Following the thousand years, Satan is cast into the lake of fire following his final attempt to wage war on the saints. (Revelation 20:7-10).
A period of one thousand years separates the fate of the beast and the false prophet and Satan who is thrown into the lake of fire a little over a thousand years later.
To assert that the thousand years began at the crucifixion (or as some would argue on the conversion of individual believers) leaves us questioning the reason why the beast and the false prophet are thrown alive into the lake of fire prior to the thousand-year period. (Revelation 19:20).
Amillennialists argue that the premillennial position regarding the present freedom of Satan contradicts the effects of the crucifixion. However, by their own warped reasoning, their admission that Satan must be released for a brief period of time at the end of the millennium also contradicts the effects of the crucifixion. (Revelation 20:3).
Biblically, Satan has already been defeated. However, his sentence becomes effectual when his authority as the god of this age is terminated by his imprisonment in the Abyss, and then finally a thousand years or so later when he is thrown into the lake of fire. (2 Corinthians 4:4).
We cannot possibly be living in the millennial period where Satan cannot deceive the nations any longer. (Revelation 20:3). Jesus Christ strikes the nations precisely because they have been deceived into attempting to wage war against Jesus Christ at Armageddon. (Revelation 19:19-20).
The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. (Revelation 20:5,12).  Amillennialists deny that the first resurrection is a literal resurrection.

Revelation Commentary: "The premillennialists would argue that 'the rest of the dead' refers to unbelievers. The saints of the ages who died before the sixth seal are resurrected between seals six and seven and those beheaded after the Rapture are resurrected near/on the beginning of the 1000-year period. The general resurrection of the wicked occurs at the end of the 1000-year kingdom. The amillennialists must argue that 'the rest of the dead' refers to the wicked and perhaps some righteous. However, this causes a major problem. If 'come to life' is spiritual in Revelation 20:4, then it must be spiritual in Revelation 20:5. Problem: how do the wicked come to life in a spiritual sense? If 'come to life' is spiritual in Revelation 20:4, how can the same verb refer to physical life in Revelation 20:5 without any textual clues to help the reader understand this change? Such 'doings' are unnatural to the text!"

Henry Alford: "..I cannot consent to distort words from their plain sense and chronological place in the prophecy, on account of any considerations of difficulty, or any risk of abuses which the doctrine of the millennium may bring with it. Those who lived next to the Apostles, and the whole Church for 300 years, understood them in the plain literal sense: and it is a strange sight in these days to see expositors who are among the first in reverence of antiquity, complacently casting aside the most cogent instance of consensus which primitive antiquity presents. As regards the text itself, no legitimate treatment of it will extort what is known as the spiritual interpretation now in fashion. If, in a passage where two resurrections are mentioned, where certain ψυχαὶ ἔζησαν at the first, and the rest of the νεκροὶ ἔζησαν only at the end of a specified period after that first, if in such a passage the first resurrection may be understood to mean spiritual rising with Christ, while the second means literal rising from the grave; then there is an end of all significance in language, and Scripture is wiped out as a definite testimony to any thing. If the first resurrection is spiritual, then so is the second, which I suppose none will be hardy enough to maintain: but if the second is literal, then so is the first, which in common with the whole primitive Church and many of the best modern expositors, I do maintain, and receive as an article of faith and hope). Blessed (see ch. Revelation 14:13 , Rev 19:9 ) and holy is he that hath part in (ref., the expression is peculiar to St. John) the first resurrection: over such persons the second death (see reff.: and bear in mind what is said of our Lord Himself, Rom 6:9 ) hath not power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they [ shall ] reign with Him (Christ) a (or, the ) thousand years." 9

George Eldon Ladd:  "The first anti-millenarians disparaged the natural interpretation of Revelation 20, not for exegetical reasons, because they thought the book did not teach a millennium, but because they did not like millennial doctrine." 10

The souls of those who had been beheaded and came to life refers without doubt to their physical resurrection. (see below).

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven with the key to the Abyss, holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. And he threw him into the Abyss, shut it, and sealed it over him, so that he could not deceive the nations until the thousand years were complete. After that, he must be released for a brief period of time. Then I saw the thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image, and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. And they came to life (ἔζησαν) and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come back to life until the thousand years were complete. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with Him for a thousand years. (Revelation 20:1-6).

Alan Kurschner has shared an excellent post on this subject on his website: Send This Article To Your Amillennial and Postmillennial Friends | ESCHATOS MINISTRIES (alankurschner.com)

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.(Revelation 22:18-19 cf. Deuteronomy 4:2,12:32; Proverbs 30:6).

DOES SPENCER SMITH THINK THAT THE RAPTURE DEBATE IS A JOKE?

Spencer Smith seems oblivious to the seriousness of the rapture debate. Smith is in serious error regarding the alleged pre-trib rapture, and his challenge to false Calvinist amillenial teacher Keith Foskey is in the worst possible taste. God's word is not a joke nor something to make jokes about. Neither of these false teachers has bothered to study the scriptures in any depth to ascertain whether their eschatological beliefs are viable. (1 John 4:1). Those who change the scriptures are in rebellion to God! (Revelation 22:18-19; Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32; Proverbs 30:6). While these two bozos are playing at being tough guys the body of Christ is being led astray into catastrophic error!

SPENCER SMITH'S UNGODLY RANTS ARE A DISGRACE

TikTok Is A Weapon of Mass Destruction! - YouTube

Missionary Spencer Smith (Lighthouse Baptist Church Shepherdsville Kentucky)

For me, the above video was the final straw with Spencer Smith. Smith's idea of fun is watching men beating each other to a pulp on the football pitch or in the boxing ring. If Smith really wants to beat his chest and act like Tarzan, then I suggest that he relocates to the jungle and finds another platform. Smith's ungodly rants are becoming more and more frequent and they are not suitable for a Christian audience. He does have some sound doctrine, but all too often his approach is brutish and unchristian. I hope that he doesn't have sons who do not live up to his manly standards. Men like this can make their sons lives a misery if they don't live up to their idea of "manliness".

Spencer Smith's rant: "The reason I want to watch football is that I want to see grown barbarian 300 pound men who are giants. I want to see those men kill each other in Jesus name. That's the only reason that I watch football..  they are making football so soft that you can't hit anybody any more.. The only reason I used to watch football is because men were manly and men would just kill each other. That's what I want to watch.. Football was a bunch of grown highly skilled highly athletic men tearing each other to shreds for my entertainment.. it was awesome, it was glorious, I loved it. God forgive me it this is carnal.. (yes it is carnal)  That is just being a man.. we enjoy watching that stuff..  We want to watch manliness.. we want to watch dudes killing each other..

Smith seems to think that modern football in America is a symptom of "divine feminism". Having watched part of a match, I do not think that the players look effeminate: Top 10 Games of the 2020 NFL Season - YouTube

Quora:"You have never been hit by a 300+ pound behemoth that can run the 40m at damn near Olympic level sprinting velocities.
If American football was 'so soft' the NFL wouldn't have changed rules due to a large number of men suffering CTE. Unfortunately, brain injuries are pretty common in professional football in the US."

Spencer Smith on Gog/Magog

Gog and Magog, ISRAEL ISRAEL ISRAEL, What Can We Do?!?!?! - YouTube

On this video Smith lunges into the Russian/Ukraine problem with gusto. Anyone who admits to having to look up the meaning of "capitulation" in the dictionary really should not be promoting themselves as some kind of prophecy or political expert. {2}

Smith spends endless time on his videos incessantly promoting himself, his channel, his wares, touting for subscriptions and donations, offering rewards for watching his videos, competitions and giveaways. He tells viewers to "smite thine like button". He periodically gives thumbs up and counts his viewers. This is the behaviour of a narcissist!

Smith would do better to spend his time studying the scriptures regarding the timing of the rapture instead of relying on his equally ignorant mentor "prophecy expert" Charles Hiltibidal. Smith will not be "raptured out of here" any time soon, so the jungle may be the best place for him.

The Cult of Essential Oils, Dead To Sin, Giveaways!!! - YouTube

During the first nine minutes of the above video Smith preaches on "effinatsy", he means "effeminacy", and "hulkomania".  He preaches against Winnie the Pooh as a "weirdo" and Piglet as "effeminate". I have never seen anything quite like it!

Smith's brutish behavior puts him firmly in the category of a hillbilly to use an American term. In England we would call him a clodhopper. This man has some very serious problems and his behaviour does not meet the balanced criteria required of a Christian leader.

For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. (Titus 1:7-9).

..the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; (Galatians 5:22-23).
