DR WATSON'S PRETRIB NON DISCOVERY By Dave MacPherson

     Dr. William Watson, history prof at Colorado Christian University, has penned a 55-page paper declaring that he has found examples of pretribulation rapture teaching considerably earlier than the claims that such teaching was "begun by Darby in the late nineteenth century." (Somehow he wrote "late" instead of "early.")
     Those interested in his paper can Google "Pretribulational Rapture in 17th and 18th Century England (pdf)." It features the highlights of his book "Dispensationalism Before Darby" (Lampion Press, 2015) which has been lauded by LaHaye, Ice, Reagan and other pretrib diehards.
     Right off the bat I noticed his misspelling of well-known prophecy writers. Lindsey became "Lindsay," Benware became "Benaware," Jeffrey became "Jeffery," and Scofield became "Schofield."
     I soon noticed, when going over Watson's attempt to prove the existence of pretrib rapture belief in his 17th and 18th century sources, that what he quoted was anything but pretribism. Many times those writers of yesteryear would merely be talking about "preservation" (or synonymous terms). Just before the quotes, Watson in short prefaces psyched up readers with a liberal usage of "Pretribulation" (or pretrib) and he seemed to use the word "rapture" endlessly (his way of putting "rapture" glasses on readers!). Oddly, I found only one mention of "dispensationalism" in one of the featured quotes even though it is in Watson's book title!
     What would be announced as pretrib rapture doctrine would be nothing more than a rapture before the final "conflagration," or before "Israel's resurrection," or before the final days of the Beast's power, or before Babylon's destruction, or before the "great destruction" at Armageddon, or before the Beast's zenith of "power," or before the Beast and false prophet are "cast into the lake of fire."
     Watson at times would say that some ancient writer taught two future comings, but upon checking it was found that the writer was merely talking about a coming before, and another coming after, a future millennium - certainly nothing about a pretrib coming! He admitted that a good number of the writers he researched were actually posttribulational in outlook, but by including them wasn't he undercutting his main purpose of claiming discovery of pretribulationism in writers centuries before Darby?
     On the first page of his paper, Watson mentioned a debate he had in 2007 with a fellow CCU prof who stated that dispensationalism and related ideas "began only 150 years ago in the mind of Darby."
     Watson revealed that the same debate was what inspired him to search for pretrib teaching in old books in British libraries. Since no posttrib or prewrath profs that I know would have an incentive to purposely look for pretribulationism before Darby's time, it's apparent to me that Watson, well versed on the current international "rapture" debate, had already been favoring the pretrib view which in recent years has seen pretrib merchandisers like Thomas Ice claiming evidence of pretrib in pre-1830 writers like Pseudo-Ephraem. In fact, Watson's paper cited Ice far more than any other prophecy writer of today!
     And when analyzing 18th century preacher Morgan Edwards, Watson echoed Ice and selectively quoted Edwards in the manner Ice had done! For an accurate assessment of Edwards, Google "Morgan Edwards' Rapture View" which shows that Edwards tied his "rapture" to the cosmic signs in Matt. 24! For more on Ice, pretribism's bulldog, Google "Pretrib Rapture Pride," "Walvoord Melts Ice," "Thomas Ice (Bloopers)," and "Be careful in polemics - Peripatetic Learning" (the latter written by a doctoral student in England).
     At the end of his paper Watson listed four of the writers he analyzed, said that none of them were pretrib but that they did mention "others who were" pretrib. I checked the quotes from all four (Thomas Collier, 1674; Praisegod Barebones (sic), 1675; Thomas Burnett, 1681; and Pierre Jurieu, 1687) - and none of the four mentioned anyone they knew of who was pretrib! And after all the pretrib "hype" in his title and throughout his prefaces before the quotes he offers, Watson has no category of "Pretribulation" in his chart at the back but has other categories showing what his authors saw in the way of "two comings," "resurrection," etc. and of course those who used "rapture" (but not after the word "pretrib")!
     Watson does mention Edward Irving on p. 32, and says that Irving and Darby "had begun teaching a pre-tribulation rapture" by "1831." My research shows that Irving and his Irvingites (who, BTW, credited a Miss Margaret Macdonald in Scotland as being the very first person to "discover" a pretrib rapture in the Bible) publicly taught pretrib in Sep. of 1830 in their journal "The Morning Watch." Darby, on the other hand, was still defending posttrib historicism in Dec. 1830 in the "Christian Herald," saw in 1837 the church "going in with Him to the marriage, to wit, with Jerusalem and the Jews," and didn't clearly teach pretrib until 1839 ("Notes on the Revelation"); his pretrib rapture was then based on the man child "caught up" in Rev. 12:5 (but Irving had used the same symbol for the same purpose back in 1831 and Darby, an avid reader of Irving's journal, "borrowed" Irving's thought without giving him credit!).
     If anyone before 1830 had taught a pretrib rapture, I'm sure that Darby would have heard about it. He was well read, knew several modern languages and even some ancient ones. The earliest pretrib teachers (in the 1830s) all stated that the pretrib rapture concept was a brand-new idea. In an 1834 letter Darby, while discussing the novel pretrib coming, wrote that "the thoughts are new," adding that "it would not be well to have it so clear, as it frightens people. We must pursue it steadily; it works like leaven...."
     Finally, I've long known that writers who bring up the origin of the pretrib view usually pad their books by quoting writers living centuries before and after the real originator and fail to use a microscope or magnifying glass like Sherlock Holmes and really focus on "who done it." It's almost as if certain writers are using a telescope to find the pretrib origin while looking out the window of an airplane circling the earth!
     I can imagine Dr. Watson contacting me and saying "Are you accusing me of using a telescope?"
     With apologies to Arthur Conan Doyle and P. G. Wodehouse, I could reply: "Elementary, my dear Watson, elementary!"

the dishonesty of geoffrey grider 'now the end begins': the lie that the post-tribulation rapture is anti-semitic

Geoffrey Grider, Author and Editor-in-Chief of "Now The End Begins".
http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/teaching-church-will-go-tribulation-antisemitic-replacement-theology/

Grider's Shocking False Statements:

"Christians who find the church within Daniel's 70th week have embraced replacement theology and a pernicious form of antisemitism."

"People who, in error, attempt to place the Church in the time of Jacob's trouble can only do it by putting the Church where Israel should be, and as such are guilty of teaching Replacement Theology. They are guilty of stealing promises made to the Jews and Israel alone, and God will have none of that."

"Christians are never 'God’s people' in the Bible, we are His redeemed through the work that Jesus did on the cross at Calvary."

Perhaps Mr Grider should read his Bible again! Christians are indisputably referred to as "God's people" in the New Testament:

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10 cf. Romans 9:25-26)

Grider: "We are 'elect of God' but we are not 'the elect' as that is always a reference to the Jews."

Grider makes a false distinction, making the definite article preceding "elect" exclusively applicable to Israel. The word “elect” simply means “chosen”. There are many references to both Israel and the church as God's elect/his elect/the elect"The elect" are those Gentiles and literal Jews/Israelites who have known, now know, or will know Jesus as Lord, Saviour, and Messiah.{1}

Further verses about the elect: Matthew 24:22-31; Mark 13:20-27; Luke 18:7; 2 John 1:1; Romans 8:33, Romans 11:7; 1 Peter 1:1; 1 Timothy 2:10; Titus 1:1).

Jacob's Trouble

Despite being at odds with the multifarious errors of pretribulational doctrine, the post-tribulation view is in complete harmony with the pretribulationism concerning Israel and could never be described as being antisemitic! Post-tribulationists, in agreement with the Apostle Paul, believe that God has not rejected his people (Israel), and that there is a remnant chosen by grace (Romans 11:1-7). Post-tribulationists believe that all the Old Testament prophecies will yet be literally fulfilled in their minutiae; such as in Isaiah 11 and 65 for example. This new angle being pushed by some militant pre-tribulationists is totally dishonest and entirely misrepresents the post-tribulation view! Mr Grider's allegations are totally inappropriate and are very damaging to the Body of Christ. According to Grider, Spurgeon, Ryle, Muller, Newton, Tregelles, and a whole host of other historic pre-millenial believers are now anti-semitic! It was only the post-millennial believers that the charge of "antisemitism" could be directed, but apparently not any more!

Does Jeremiah 30:7 automatically preclude the church from the great tribulation? The faulty dispensational position that the church cannot be present for any of the 70th week of Daniel is a non sequitur fallacy. It is based on the false presupposition that God deals with Israel exclusively after the church (believing Jews and Gentiles) is raptured. However, the evidence that the 70th week is not limited to Israel alone is overwhelming, just as the destruction of the temple and the diaspora was not limited to the Jews (Israel) alone, but most certainly affected believers (Acts 8:1-4, 11:19; James 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1). Where there is a distinction, is that one third of unbelieving Israel will flee from the Antichrist into the wilderness (Petra?) and will be divinely protected for 1260 days/42 prophetic months (Revelation 12:1-6; Daniel 12:1,7,11,12; cf  Matthew 24:15-22).

And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. (Zechariah 12:10; )

Who are the remnant of Israel's seed?

Revelation 12:17 clearly shows that in his frustration at being thwarted in his pursuit of Israel, the dragon (Satan) will make war with "the remnant of her seed".  Who else keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ except Christians?

And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman (Israel) which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. (Revelation 12:13-17)

Grider: "The Bible never calls this time the ‘Great Tribulation’, that is a misquote from Matthew 24 where Jesus says there will be ‘great tribulation’ as an adjective, but not as a definitive noun."

Nevertheless Jesus Christ does define this time as a period of ..great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (Matthew 24:21 cf. Daniel 12:1). The term "great tribulation" is repeated in Revelation 7:14 as a noun phrase. This period is clearly defined twice as "great tribulation" affecting the whole world in the scriptures, so why does Grider split hairs about adjectives and nouns?

The Pre-tribulation Rapture Deception

Pretribulationism has no scriptural support and actually throws up more problems than answers. Passages which contradict pretribulationism, such as 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8 and the book of Matthew, are either ignored altogether or ascribed to unsaved Israel. The absurdity of relegating the entire book of Matthew as having no application to the church, as some do, is dangerous nonsense, leaving believers unprepared for the last days and extremely vulnerable to deception.. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17 cf. Matthew 28:20). As such, and given its history, we can accurately say that pretribulationism is human tradition which nullifies the word of God (Matthew 15:3). J.N. Darby appears to have appropriated the pre-tribulation rapture from the Irvingites and began teaching it circa 1830. It was subsequently popularised by C.I. Scofield via his "reference Bible".  Darbyism, so-called, spread like wild fire throughout the USA, giving rise to the Dallas Theological Seminary and all its off-shoots that we see today in the form of the "Left Behind" series and "Rapture Ready" website and many other such populist outlets.

The Post-Tribulation Rapture

People can mean different things by the post-tribulation rapture. In my view, the most coherent position is the pre-wrath rapture i.e. the rapture occurs after the sixth seal is opened (Revelation 6:12). In contrast to pretribulationism, the pre-wrath position can be argued consistently from several passages of scripture, including the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, and the Book of Revelation. Paul Dorgan gives a good comprehensive teaching on the pre-wrath view on the link below. Unfortunately, pseudo theologian and chancer Jacob Prasch (Moriel Ministries) has corrupted the pre-wrath position and has muddied the waters in recent times with his intra-seal rapture nonsense (Ezekiel 34:18). Intra-seal is extremely problematic and brings nothing but confusion to the debate.{2}

Post-tribulationist Joe Schimmel of Good Fight Ministries (Left Behind or Led Astray){3}, has a different view to pre-wrath. As the link below shows, Schimmel is demonstrably not anti-semitic!

beware of charismania: the leicester outpouring in october with peter gammons!

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognise them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.Thus you will recognise them by their fruits..... (Matthew 7:15-20)

Peter Gammons is the Host/Organiser of Midlands Outpouring Leicester Weekend which is being held at  the University of Leicester, Stamford Court, Manor Road, Oadby, Leicester on the 7th and 8th of October.
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/midlands-outpouring-leicester-weekend-tickets-27536901614

Gammons is the founder of Peter Gammons Ministries International (PGMI). Apparently the event in Leicester is being supported by local churches which is very concerning.

Gammons makes great boasts of miracles, healings and supernatural experiences etc. Huge numbers attend his meetings internationally where thousands are supposedly healed. He is also a prolific writer; his twelve book series "Power in Your Pocket" which cost £30 or $40 includes: 200 Secrets of Financial Blessing and Twenty Keys To Your Financial Breakthrough.{1} Gammons theology is all about what we can get from God, aka the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, or the gospel of success. In other words Gammons "gospel" flies in the face of the true teachings of Jesus Christ (Matthew 10:38; 2 Corinthians 2:17, 4:2). Clearly Gammons "ministry" is very lucrative, for him at least!

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ (Matthew 7:21-23)

I put Gammons on a similar level to Benny Hinn who also visited Leicester in 2014 with the "blessing" of Trinity Life Church (AOG). Hinn cannot prove any of his miracles, and I believe his ministry to be a huge scam.{2} Whether Gammon's miracles are fake I am not entirely sure, but even if they are "real", they are satanic, because he does not teach the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Signs and wonders are definitely not proof of genuine Christianity.. in fact false signs and wonders will play a major role in the satanic deception coming upon the earth during the final few years of history:

The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

In 2003 Archbishop Paulk and Bishop Kirby Clemments ordained Gammons as Bishop of the International Communion of Charismatic Churches (ICCC), an organisation representing over 6000 ministries and over 10 million of members worldwide, including many of the world’s largest Mega-churches, with some congregations alone having in excess of 50,000 members.{3}

The ICCC is partners with the Roman Catholic Church. This is all part of the Counter-Reformation which is rapidly taking shape before our eyes. Partnership with the Roman Catholic Church is to accept another gospel (Galatians 1:6). For instance, the declarations of the Council of Trent (1545-1563) which are still in force, formally condemn the biblical doctrine of faith alone and grace alone:

“If anyone says that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in divine mercy, which remits sins for Christ's sake, or that it is this confidence alone that justifies us, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA” (Sixth Session, Canons Concerning Justification, Canon 12).

“If anyone says that the justice received is not preserved and also not increased before God through good works, but that those works are merely the fruits and signs of justification obtained, but not the cause of its increase, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA” (Sixth Session, Canons Concerning Justification, Canon 24).

The Roman Catholic Church teaches baptismal regeneration and sacramentalism i.e. justifying grace is "infused" upon baptism and is maintained via the sacraments:

Catechism 1212 "The sacraments of Christian initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist - lay the foundations of every Christian life. "The sharing in the divine nature given to men through the grace of Christ bears a certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity." {4}

The Pentecostal and charismatic churches are now well on their way to Rome, as we have observed with the treachery of Kenneth Copeland, James Robison, John Arnott and other false teachers. In direct contradiction to the Bible, Pope Francis, states that all, regardless of their religious profession, are children of God.

.....for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  (Galatians 3:26-28)

–  'Many think differently, feel differently, seeking God or meeting God in different ways. In this crowd, in this range of religions, there is only one certainty that we have for all: we are all children of God,' Pope Francis said in his message, released Jan. 6, the feast of the Epiphany." {5}

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. (Matthew 7:24-29)

Anyone who becomes involved in the ecumenical movement is putting themselves at great risk of spiritual deception.

Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you take part in her sins, lest you share in her plagues....." (Revelation 18:4)

jacob prasch moriel ministries: more intra-seal lies!

Jacob Prasch continues to peddle his ill conceived intra-seal "doctrine" with gusto and has recently manufactured some further blatantly untruthful statements:

Jacob Prasch "Who is The Restrainer" Sept 10, 2016
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q61kIzMkRqI

Prasch: "The term katechó (restrainer) is never applied or used in any context with Michael. neither in the Septuagint, the book of Daniel, nor the book of Revelation, he is never called the restrainer, never."

Actually katechó does fit the book of Daniel and Revelation in context with the archangel Michael. It is worth noting that Michael contends (Hebrew mit·chaz·zek root word chazaq) against the Prince of Persia (Daniel 10:21 cf. Jude 1:9). The short definition of the Hebrew word chazaq is strong.{1}  According to Strongs Hebrew and Greek Dictionary, chazaq has a number of words in English to describe its meaning, including restrain.{2} This is a very important point because this is yet another example where we have to question the integrity of Prasch's exegesis. Prasch tells us that he is a Hebrew expert; as such he would know the meaning of chazaq exactly!

Restrain: prevent (someone or something) from doing something; keep under control or within limits.{3}

Yet there is no one who stands firmly with me against these forces except Michael your prince. (Daniel 10:21) Michael stands guard (ä·mad'). The Septuagint has "holds with me".{4} This phrase "holds with me" fits perfectly with restrain since katechó means:  I hold fast, bind, arrest, (b) I take possession of, lay hold of, (c) I hold back, detain, restrain, (d) I hold a ship, keep its head.{5}

The Hebrew ä·mad' has a number of different meanings: to stand, remain, endure, take one's stand.

Without going into any further detailed explanations, there is indisputable evidence that Michael does in fact directly restrain Satan in the book of Daniel, in the book of Revelation (future -when he ceases to restrain), and indeed in the Septuagint! We should be asking ourselves the question: Why does Prasch make such a dishonest statement when the exact reverse of what he says can easily be demonstrated?

Prasch: "Far from preventing Satan from coming to earth and indwelling the person of Antichrist, Michael kicks Satan out at a celestial battle in heaven. Instead of preventing him from coming, he causes him to come. There is a logical and textual inconsistency in what they (the pre-wrath teachers) are saying...."

Prasch is referring to Revelation 12:

Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!” (Revelation 12:7-12)

Obviously there will come a future point when he who restrains will cease to restrain. This is precisely what Revelation 12:7-12 refers to as I am sure Prasch knows very well! Paul referred to the same event when he wrote: he who restrains will come out of the midst (γένηται μέσου 2 Thessalonians 2:7). When this happens, the lawless one will be revealed because he who restrains no longer directly contends/makes war/restrains him. I cannot accuse Prasch of being stupid, so I suggest that this is a deliberate attempt to mislead his hearers! Prasch fails to elaborate on the timing of this event.. in fact the mid point of the 70th week of Daniel. After Satan is expelled from heaven and thrown down to the earth, the time is short - there are only 3.5 years (cut short) for Satan to wreak havoc on the earth through the two beasts, the Antichrist and the False Prophet. Jesus indicated that following the abomination that causes desolation at the mid point of the week: there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be (Matthew 24:21). Daniel indicated that just prior to this same period of distress that Michael shall ä·mad' (Daniel 12:1). There is no logical or textual inconsistency here at all!  Prasch's statement is a blatant inversion of the text and is an outright lie.

Prasch: "They don't understand the Spirit indwelling and the Spirit outpoured: {6}

The Bible says the precise opposite to Prasch:

In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. (Acts 2:17 cf. Joel 2:28)

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)

An upsurge of evil takes place in the last days 2 Timothy 3:1-5; 2 Peter 3:3; Jude 1:17-18.

The term “the last days” - refers to the period between the coming of Messiah in the year 29 CE when he began to speak to the Jews, to the time of the end i.e. the return (parousia) of Jesus Christ (Revelation 16:17). The Bible tells us very clearly that the Spirit is outpoured during "the last days" until the end of the age.

The fact that Prasch has made a nonessential into an essential doctrine should be a huge red flag. He continues to peddle his ill conceived doctrine despite all the scriptural evidence to the contrary, and then he has the impudence to tell everyone where the pre-wrath teachers have "got it right" and where they have "got it wrong". He doesn't speak in terms of "I think", "I believe" or "in my view".. Prasch "knows".. and he.."is sure" that the pre-wrath teachers are incorrect about the identity of the Restrainer in 2 Thessalonians 2:5-7. This knowall trait of Prasch is blatantly unbiblical (2 Timothy 3:2). Prasch puts himself above some heavy weight Christian scholars in a case where there is no objective proof. There are instances where we can know certain things authoritatively from the scriptures, but the identity of the Restrainer is not one of those instances! A frequent argument of Prasch is that he knows because he "understands" these things better than others due to the illumination of the Holy Spirit. However, somewhat worryingly, Prasch appears to be the only person on the planet who does understand!

According to Prasch, the pre-wrath teachers are generally "cessationist", whereas he is a continuationist. We should be very careful about labelling and dismissing the views other Christians based on subjective biases. Christians who are "cessationist" do actually believe in the illumination of the Holy Spirit where the scriptures are concerned. I am a continuationist myself, but I have to admit that many who boast that they have the illumination of the Holy Spirit are demonstrably not to be trusted (1 John 4:1). Furthermore, where the fruit of the Spirit is not evident in a person's life i.e. love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (Galatians 5:22) then those who claim superior revelation cannot logically claim the illumination of the Holy Spirit (cf. 1 Corinthians 13:1-13).

CF Hogg and WE Vine

Despite being pretribulationists, CF Hogg and WE Vine (co-writers of Vine's Expository Commentary) rejected the standard pre-trib view that the Holy Spirit is the Restrainer. Their exegesis of the Epistles to the Thessalonians is exceptional, and I dare say, had they been around today, they would have changed their position to pre-wrath.

Hogg and Vine affirm that the allusions to the Restrainer are: "necessarily obsure..... it makes dogmatism on the interpretation of the passage futile and foolish. The difficulties are further enhanced by the fact, that alike in form and in matter, the passage is without parallel in the other writings of this Apostle. His own words 'we know in part and we prophesy in part,' 1 Cor. 13.9, convey a salutary warning here. They go on: "Many attempts have been made to identify this restraining power, but the conditions are such that these are little more than speculative....."

"The restrainer is the Holy Spirit; that which restrains is the church ; the time of the taking away is the rapture..... This interpretation is without support in other parts of the N.T. Matt. 5.13 has been appealed to, "ye are the salt of the earth," but the idea expresssed in the remainer of the saying is, not that the salt shall be removed, but that it may lose its distinctive character and thus cease to hinder corruption. Neither is it elsewhere stated or implied that the Holy Spirit will leave the earth at the rapture of the saints, for after that event there will be those upon the earth who will witness for God.... in the energy of the Holy Spirit, see Joel 2:28, 29. Yet this interpretation demands not merely that the Holy Spirit change the mode of His operations but that He leave the world entirely. Moreover had the Holy Spirit and the church been in the writer's mind there does not appear to be any reason why he should not have said so plainly..... The suggestion seems to be of quite modern origin, there is apparently, no trace of it in early writings on the subject." {7}

Hogg and Vine's words "futile and foolish" and "speculative" well describe Prasch's "doctrine", especially since it is now undeniable that his honesty bends to fit his theology.

The Elephant In The Room - Ecumenism

Prasch still has nothing to say about the very worrying question of ecumenist David Noakes whom he recognises as a prophetic voice and to whom he gives a platform. Noakes' "Thus saith the Lord prophecies" throw up some very serious concerns. I will repeat my previous question: Would a true prophet of God be ecumenical? Prasch's close association with the ecumenical "prophet" David Noakes and his accomplice, false prophet, Clifford Hill (Moggerhanger Park) is very revealing.

Prasch seems to have completely missed the major significance of the 2016 Mekudeshet Festival in Jerusalem which saw a major progression of the Counter-Reformation and the one world religion. This event saw "Christians", Jews and Muslims uniting for a “spiritual gathering” dubbed Amen—A House of Prayer For All Believers.{8}

From Conflict to Communion.. This is Phase V of the Satanically inspired agreement between The  Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and the Roman Catholic Church. "From Conflict to Communion: Lutheran-Catholic Common Commemoration of the Reformation in 2017 -  Published by the Lutheran-Roman Catholic Commission on Unity in the context of the 2017 commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, and the 50th anniversary of dialogue between Lutherans and Catholics."{9}

These things are taking place under our noses, and yet Prasch and many of his friends do not seem to be cognizant of the breakneck speed of ecumenical developments before us all. Does it make any sense that Prasch is peddling intra-seal at such a time as this? Much less, should his friends at The Columbus Prophecy Conference and Believers in Grace Ministries support him and give him a platform to teach such an easily refuted "doctrine"?  We seem to have the same old problem of irresponsible neglect repeating itself with the Praschites, i.e. the practice of refusing to challenge the unscriptural teachings of powerful individuals for the sake of unity so-called. A timely warning from Prasch's friends before things progressed this far might have done some good (Proverbs 27:6).

Do not admit a charge against an elder except on the evidence of two or three witnesses. As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality. (1 Timothy 5:19-21)

Although I personally believe that there is strong evidence to show that Michael is the Restrainer of 2 Thessalonians 2:7-9, this post is not about proving that argument. My problem concerns the integrity of Prasch himself as a bible teacher. I have gradually come to the realisation that Prasch is a much more dangerous proposition than I had originally supposed. What do I mean by this? I no longer believe that he is a genuine bible teacher and I now find it perfectly feasible that he could very well be batting for the other side and using diversionary tactics (intra-seal) in order to muddy the waters and confuse genuine believers (Ezekiel 34:18). Prasch's casuistry and equivocation, are, dare I say it, almost Jesuitical. I have come to the point where I would not take anything he says at face value.

My full refutation against intra-seal is constantly developing and can be found at: http://bewareofthewolves.blogspot.co.uk/2016/04/jacob-prasch-rapture-holy-spirit-and.html

adam simmonds: former northamptonshire pcc and director of trinity life church in leicester charged by crown prosecution service

Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. (Proverbs 10:9)

Former Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Adam Simmonds, has been charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with breaching the Data Protection Act.

"The Crown Prosecution Service announced the decision in a statement released on Friday afternoon.
A spokesperson said: 'After a thorough review of the evidence we have decided to charge Adam Simmonds with one offence of breaching the Data Protection Act 1998.
'The case met the test set out in the Code for Crown Prosecutors that there is a realistic prospect of a conviction and it is in the public interest.
'Mr Simmonds’ lawyers have been informed,' the statement added.
 No date has yet to be set for a court appearance."{1}

Adam Simmonds (Conservative) was elected in 2012 and was Northamptonshire's first Police and Crime Commissioner. The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) investigated claims that Simmonds breached the Data Protection Act by disclosing "sensitive" information relating to a criminal investigation to third parties in 2013 and committed an offence of misconduct in public office.{2} The IPCC has passed the findings of its inquiry to The Crown Prosecution Service. Simmonds did not stand for re-election in May of this year, though he denied the IPCC inquiry was the reason.

During his incumbency as PCC, Simmonds attracted many allegations/complaints relating to undemocratic actions. Amongst them were cronyism, abuse of power, lack of transparency, misconduct in public office, autocracy, massive overspending,{3} and not least, the very dubious role he played in the purchase of Wootton Hall.{4}

An unprecedented number of petitions were launched against Simmonds during his incumbency:

Hands Off Northamptonshire Police 999 Service! https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/hands-off-northamptonshire-police-999-service

My own particular bone of contention with Simmonds began when he removed two of my posts concerning Trinity Life Church (TLC) in 2014. {5} I still believe that he took this action illegally, though my attemps to ascertain the true facts of the matter were unsuccessful!

Simmonds, who claims to be a "Christian", is a former Director and Trustee of TLC in Leicester which is a Pentecostal Assemblies of God church. They profess biblical Christian values, though you would not notice! It is unclear whether Simmonds still attends TLC, but I believe his influence upon that congregation has been very damaging indeed. Having said that, had the leadership of TLC been true to the faith they profess, they would not have allowed Simmonds' worldly values to gain a foothold. What part Simmonds played in TLC's lottery funding for their Open Hands charity in November 2013 is unknown. Simmonds was a Director of Open Hands Trust from 2008-2012.{6}  I believe that TLC failed a very important test of faith when they allied themselves with Simmonds and all the temptations that association brought with it!

"The Open Hands Trust has been granted £446,626 after receiving support from Voluntary Action Leicestershire (VAL) with their bid for Big Lottery Reaching Communities funding." Release date 12th of November 2013. {7}

Ecumenist, Adam Simmonds has done much to bring true biblical Christianity into disrepute. We will possibly never know the full extent of the spiritual damage he has wreaked (1 Corinthians 4:5; Ecclesiastes 12:14). We should be very thankful that the controversial Northamptonshire Police Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) set up by Simmonds in January 2014 was very quickly wound down by Stephen Mold, Simmonds successor.{8}

Many in Northamptonshire regard Adam Simmonds as an experience they would rather forget, though his legacy continues. It will be good to see a little bit of justice, if indeed Simmonds is found guilty of the charge! A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed that Simmonds' first court hearing will be at Westminster Magistrates Court in London on Tuesday, October 18.{9}

..... and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. (2 Peter 2:2)

UPDATE 18th October 2016

Callum Jones of the Daventry Express reported that Former Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds has appeared in court today accused of disclosing personal data about Wellingborough MP Peter Bone:

"Simmonds, aged 39, of Northcote Road, Leicester, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday) after he was charged with breaching the Data Protection Act.
The court heard Simmonds is alleged to have "knowingly or recklessly" disclosed personal data relating to Mr Bone between November 7, 2013 and May 1, 2014.
Mark Harries, defending for Simmonds, indicated that his client would plead not guilty to the charge and the case was sent to Southwark Crown Court.
The case will be heard at the Crown Court on November 15. Simmonds, who spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address, was given unconditional bail."{10}

jacob prasch moriel ministries.. the intra-seal deception: the seven spirits of god (revelation 4:5):

I have previously written about the intra-seal rapture theory in some depth due to the peculiar claim of Jacob Prasch that the Restrainer of 2 Thessalonians 2:7 is the Holy Spirit. Prasch circulates the intra-seal theory unequivocally as a "doctrine" and he teaches that the Holy Spirit will be taken out of the world during a fictitious "seven year tribulation". The "tribulation" (properly the great tribulation) does not begin until the abomination of desolation is set up in the middle of the 70th week of Daniel (Daniel 12:11). In fact the great tribulation is a period of unknown precise length since it is 1290 days (3.5 years) cut short (Matthew 24:22). I have debunked Prasch's false "seven year tribulation" teaching in a previous post.{1}

Prasch: "Pentecost is reversed... the same as Jesus went and sent the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit goes and sends Jesus. In that interim period you have a powerless church that cannot fulfil its mission any more... The Holy Spirit will not be taken from the hearts of true believers but He will be taken from the world (Gen 6:3; 2 Th 2:6). God will, as it were, return to an Old Covenant dealing with man. His judgements upon Egypt will be recapitulated on the whole planet (Revelation 16)." {2}

I now have gained some further insight concerning the seven spirits of God in the book of Revelation which I think is relevant to the case against Prasch's false teaching about the Restrainer.

The seven spirits of God are mentioned four times in the New Testament:

John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, (Revelation 1:4)

And to the angel of the church in Sardis write: ‘The words of him who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. “‘I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
 (Revelation 3:1)

From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, (Revelation 4:5)

And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. (Revelation 5:6)

It is generally agreed (also by Prasch) that the seven spirits of God are seven manifestations of the Holy Spirit as found in the book of Isaiah:

And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. (Isaiah 11:2).

Jesus Christ's letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2-3 were addressed to the first century churches situated in Asia Minor (Revelation 1:4). The book of Revelation tells us that the seven spirits of God occupy a position at the very closest proximity to the throne of God, before the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures. It was necessary for Jesus Christ to go away so that He could send the Holy Spirit (John 16:7-8), but it is clear from the above verses that the same is not true in reverse. Significantly, the Holy Spirit is present in the throne room of God and in the world at the same time. In other words, when the Holy Spirit was "sent", He did not "leave" the throne room of God. (Revelation 5:6). The operation of sending the Holy Spirit at Pentecost did not necessitate Him vacating heaven, as was the case with the incarnation of Jesus Christ. (John 6:38). The argument that the Holy Spirit must "leave the world" in order to facilitate Jesus’ return is therefore invalid. Where the scriptures themselves do not provide clarity, as in this particular case, it is extremely foolish to attempt to fathom the unfathomable with vain speculations based on human reasoning and then call it a "doctrine" (Romans 11:33). In fact, the Holy Spirit is omnipresent (Psalm 139:7).

Revelation 5 is a critical passage which confirms many things in the scriptures. It tells us that Jesus Christ, the Lamb, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the  Root of David alone is worthy to open the scroll. The gospel message is reitterated (v9) and the seven spirits have been sent out into all the earth.. (Revelation 5:1-9). This then is the stated situation as it stands when the first seal is opened. Nothing is said to precede the opening of the first seal which signifies the start of the 70th week of Daniel. Far from being recalled during the 70th week, Revelation 5:6 affirms just the reverse to be the case i.e. prior to the opening of the first seal, the Holy Spirit i.e. seven spirits of God, have been sent out into all the earth. We would have to add to the Book of Revelation if we were to presume a reversal of Pentecost (Revelation 22:18). I do not find anywhere that the Holy Spirit is recalled, partially recalled, or that His mission will alter, or will be limited to believers only as intra-seal asserts. Prasch's argument/theory simply does not hold water!

Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. (John 16:7-11)

The verb to send (ἀποστέλλω) is closely associated with the sender, Jesus Christ, to those He personally commissions as his witnesses e.g. John the Baptist (Mark 11:2) and the twelve apostles (Matthew 10:5).

To "convict the world" is to (a) reprove, rebuke, discipline, (b) I expose, show to be guilty.{3} The conviction of the world is by witness concerning Jesus Christ (John 15:26).  The Holy Spirit was given to believers in order to empower them to be Jesus' witnesses: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. (Acts 1:8). The scriptures confirm that the ability to bear witness during the great tribulation is not removed (Luke 21:13). The consequence of conviction may result in one of two outcomes in various subjects, either conversion (1 Corinthians 14:24), or hardening and condemnation (Acts 24:25; Romans 11:7 ff.). Prasch teaches that the Holy Spirit will be taken from the world, not from believers, and that the capacity to preach the gospel will end i.e. grace will come to an end. Isn't this a denial of the gospel?

Jacob Prasch's Dishonesty

The pre-wrath position as we know it was actually developed by Robert Van Kampen during the 1970's. I am at a loss to understand why Prasch is in denial about this fact, other than his apparent desire to be deliberately perverse! Prasch gives all the credit for pre-wrath to those who cannot legitimately take the credit for it i.e. Tregelles and CS Lovett.{4} Pre-wrath was definitely NOT developed by Tregelles who was post-tribulational. Lovett's version of pre-wrath is a combination of pre-wrath and post-trib which differs significantly from the pre-wrath position as we know it. Lovett extends the tribulation to the entirety of the 70th week of Daniel and puts the rapture at the end of this period. According to his view, the wrath of God is poured out after the 70th week. The church therefore escapes the wrath, but goes through seven years of tribulation. I am confident in my view that the pioneer of the pre-wrath position as we know it today was in fact Robert Van Kampen who was later supported by Marvin Rosenthall. Jacob Prasch disputes these simple facts and continues to promote his nonsensical intra-seal theory. In this respect, Prasch is very similar to the pretribulationists in his insistence on a "doctrine" which finds not one verse of confirmation in the scriptures!

 "Lovett believes the Church will go through seven years of tribulation, and at the end of those seven years, i.e., the end of Daniel's 70th week, it will be raptured and then the wrath of God is poured out, i.e., the seven bowls of wrath. After 45 days, the Church will then return with Christ. Though he says he is a "Prewrather," his doctrine reads as sort of a combination of PreWrath/Posttrib."{5}

Prasch's comparison between intra-seal and pre-wrath, is, in my view, a very dishonest tactical move in order for his theory to gain credence! I haven't noticed any pre-wrath scholars rushing to agree with Prasch about the alleged similarities between pre-wrath and intra-seal! The pre-wrath camp generally believe the Archangel Michael to be the Restrainer, though they are not dogmatic. Intra-seal is a kind of mishmash of other peoples ideas. In particular Prasch has borrowed Darby's view of the Holy Spirit as the Restrainer, the erroneous seven year tribulation is borrowed from the pretribulationists, and he has mimicked and corrupted original scholars Robert Van Kampen and Marvin Rosenthall.{4}The modern pre-wrath scholars are, in my experience, very careful in their exegesis and they back up their assertions with the scriptures. We cannot say the same about Prasch's intra-seal eisegesis.

The danger of the intra seal theory is that it adds to the general confusion/deception surrounding the 70th week of Daniel. Because intra-seal is so nonsensical with no scriptural basis, the danger is that it may actually work against the purposes of God and have the effect of strengthening the false pre-tribulation rapture theory which has such a stronghold on the Western church. Prasch has done no-one any favours with his wacky theory. Furthermore, no one, even within Moriel, with the exception of Prasch himself, appears to understand intra-seal. Like Darby's pre-trib deception, intra-seal is nothing more than an exercise in academic vainglory and should be treated as such. I regard this whole sorry teaching as a presumptuous misrepresentation of the Godhead which also compromises the gospel (2 Corinthians 11:4).

Prasch endorses proven ecumenist David Noakes as a valid prophetic voice and gives him a platform.{6}

David Noakes is a director of Harvest Vision and is well known within certain circles for his "Thus saith the Lord" prophecies. Harvest Vision together with CCM (The Centre of Contemporary Ministry) is the overarching Charity responsible for Moggerhanger Park which is ecumenical. Noakes is an adviser for Issachar Ministries (also based at Moggerhanger until 2015) and is also in partnership with interfaith/ecumenical HopeTogether. Clifford Hill (CCM) thoroughly endorses Noakes - they have been close friends and colleagues for more than 30 years. Noakes' prophecies in the first person of the Lord are plausible enough for him to pass them off as genuine. However, with such connections we should seriously question their authenticity. Noakes' prophecy of November 2015 and Clifford Hill's endorsement can be read on the link below.{7}

Question: Would God speak in the first person and give prophecies through a man who is ecumenical? I think not! We would be have to be very naive to believe that Prasch is not fully aware of Noakes and his connections.

Conclusion

Essentially Prasch has denied the gospel and the ministry of the Holy Spirit for the entirety of the 70th week of Daniel which is no small matter! As more and more concerns come into the light, I think we are justified in asking the question: Is Jacob Prasch what he appears to be, or is he in fact part of the problem?  His questionable intra-seal theory muddies the waters at a critical time when clarity, not confusion is needed (Ezekiel 34:18). Prasch's abusive language towards those who are supposedly his "brethren" just compound the concerns now being voiced about him by a growing number of Christians!

Concerns about Jacob Prasch:

  • He has repeatedly given a platform to proven ecumenist David Noakes.{6}
  • Intra-seal is based on eisegesis and is not found in the scriptures.
  • He has been dishonest in giving credit to the wrong people for pre-wrath. {8}
  • The comparison between intra-seal with pre-wrath is invalid.
  • There is no such thing as a seven year tribulation in the scriptures.{1}
  • He has incorrectly stated that the two witnesses of Revelation 11 will prophesy at the beginning of the 70th week of Daniel.{9}
  • He has attempted to muddy the waters concerning the role of women in the church.{10}
  • He flaunts the six pointed star as a valid national symbol for Israel, which it is definitely not! {11}
  • He has a reputation as a reviler (1 Corinthians 5:11).{12}

Believers should stop being naive about their favourite teachers, whoever they are, and should test prophecy and teaching with the scriptures (1 John 4:1):

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. (Acts 17:11)
