And from the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is he who waits and reaches the end of the 1,335 days. (Daniel 12:11-12 cf. Daniel 7:25).

Tovia Singer mistakenly identifies the Dome of the Rock as "the abomination of desolation" because it stands directly over the Jewish holy place—the site of the Holy of Holies—and he asserts that “heaven and earth were literally created from that spot.” His calculation assumes that the Dome of the Rock—was completed in 691 AD. Thus he arrives at the year 2026 .. 691 + 1335 = 2026. He gives us some additional information "The Dome of the Rock is dated by its inscription to 72 AH. Because the Hijri calendar is lunar and does not correspond exactly to a single solar CE year, 72AH spans portions of 691-692 CE. Moreover no precise month or day of completion is known. Accordingly a 1,335-year calculation from this date points to 2026-2027 CE". 

Singer: "So it says there that it'll be 1290 years which marks the time 1980. I'm using secular years so everyone's familiar. That's when the Knesset in August 30th passed a law that Jerusalem is united as the capital of Israel. And then it says 'happy is the one that waits 1,335 years for the redemption'. And it's happening now."

Singer’s assertion that 1,335 represents years rather than days fails both linguistically and structurally. While יוֹם (yom) can denote extended periods in certain contexts, its primary sense is a literal day, and Daniel 12:11 uses the plural יָמִים—the standard term for actual, countable days. Daniel’s time‑schema is anchored in the 1,260‑day period of Daniel 7:25, aligned with “a time, times, and half a time”, widely understood as 3½ years using a 360‑day prophetic year (3 × 360 + 180 = 1260). This duration marks the tribulation, a defined period of intensified persecution. Daniel 12:11–12 then extends this framework with 1,290 and 1,335 days. The numerical sequence (1,260 → 1,290 → 1,335) only functions as literal day‑counts; the +30 and +45 increments become incoherent if treated as years. Daniel never employs “days” as symbolic eras, and the countdown is tied to concrete events—the removal of sacrifice and the abomination’s installation—which require real‑time chronology. The blessing in v.12 presupposes literal waiting, not centuries. The vocabulary, arithmetic, and contextual logic all require literal days.  

The New Testament provides further information.

So when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. (Matthew 24:15-16).

But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you will know that her desolation is near. (Mark 13:14).

Paul identifies the end‑time defilement as the moment when the Antichrist takes his seat in the temple of God, an act of usurpation that constitutes the abomination of desolation. His reference is explicitly to “the temple of God”, not to the Dome of the Rock, and the passage presupposes an intrusion into a sacred space defined by its covenantal identity rather than an Islamic structure.

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4 cf. Daniel 11:36-37).

Replacement theology remains widely present across Christian traditions. It has been historically dominant in Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and many mainline Protestant frameworks, and contemporary surveys show that a measurable minority of evangelicals still affirm it, with higher acceptance among younger evangelicals. Scripture repeatedly affirms God’s ongoing plan for ethnic Israel. Romans 11 states directly that God has not rejected His people and that a remnant remains chosen by grace. Prophetic texts such as Ezekiel 36–37, Jeremiah 31:35–37, Zechariah 12–14, Hosea 3:4–5, and Amos 9:14–15 describe Israel’s future restoration, national repentance, and covenantal continuity. Jesus Himself ties His return to Israel’s future confession in Matthew 23:39. These passages collectively affirm that ethnic Israel retains a defined role in God’s redemptive plan.

Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,

“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”;
“and this will be my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”

As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. (Romans 11:25-32).

And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. The land shall mourn, each family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself, and their wives by themselves; and all the families that are left, each by itself, and their wives by themselves. (Zechariah 12:10-14 cf. Zechariah 13:7-9).

Singer: "Christianity, how does it metastasize? Again, please Christians, don't be offended. It metastasizes by saying the real you is really a failure. The real you is really a sinner. You are really broken. You are infected with the original sin. There's nothing you can do to save yourself. In their words, you can't work your way into heaven. So what the what Christianity really is is man's failed attempt to create God in his image. That's why Jesus looks fantastic.. What Judaism really is is God's successful endeavor in creating man in his image. What Christianity seeks to do to undermine that say no, you're damaged. You're filthy. You're garbage. There's nothing you can do." Judaism rejects the biblical claim that the imago Dei has been fatally damaged by the fall and that all people are desperately in need of the new birth in Jesus Christ by grace through faith. The idea of becoming “the best version of yourself” or simply becoming a better person is not a biblical category; salvation is explicitly “not by works”. (Ephesians 2:9).

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead. (Acts 17:30-31).

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:21-26).
