JOE SCHIMMEL'S TRIBULATION DISTORTIONS

What, When and How Long is the Day of the Lord?- Part 1
(23) Wednesday Night BIble Study - YouTube

I have to point out with a heavy heart that Joe Schimmel's latest message about the post-trib rapture was one of the most distorted messages I have ever heard. Why he feels that he has to define the entire 70th week of Daniel as "the tribulation" is beyond me, unless it is to appease the pre-trib camp. The bible should define our terms, not the erroneous views of those who distort the scriptures.

Bible teachers need to be very clear.. the first half of the 70th week is not the tribulation. It is critical that God's Word is not misrepresented. (Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18).

Not one single verse of scripture backs up the seven year tribulation fallacy.

The scriptures tell us repeatedly, in no uncertain terms, that the great tribulation will last for 3.5 years:

Daniel 7:25 He (the Antichrist) shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time. (3.5 years).
Revelation 11:2 ..but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.
Revelation 13:5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.
Revelation 12:5-6 ..and the woman (Israel) fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.
This period coincides with what is also known as "Jacob's Trouble". (Daniel 12:1, Jeremiah 30:7).
Matthew 24:15-21 ..when you see the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. And alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.” The abomination of desolation will occur halfway through the final seven year period, often referred to as Daniel’s 70th week. {1}

Although he didn't name him, for the second time, Joe Schimmel referred to early "church father" Victorinus as his only source in order to substantiate his recapitulation view regarding the sixth seal, the seventh trumpet and the seventh bowl. If anyone will take the time to read Victorinus they will discover that his theology is deeply flawed. Joe Schimmel really should know better!

A Sample of Victorinus' Flawed (allegorical) Theology:

And the sun became black as sackcloth of hair. The sun becomes as sackcloth; that is, the brightness of doctrine will be obscured by unbelievers.

And the entire moon became as bloodBy the moon of blood is set forth the Church of the saints as pouring out her blood for Christ.

And the stars fell to the earth. The falling of the stars are the faithful who are troubled for Christ's sake.

Even as a fig-tree casts her untimely figs. The fig-tree, when shaken, loses its untimely figs — when men are separated from the Church by persecution.

And the heaven withdrew as a scroll that is rolled up. For the heaven to be rolled away, that is, that the Church shall be taken away. {2}

Joe Schimmel is doing no-one any favours with his continued, and I might say, willful distortion of the scriptures. He would do better not to teach on this subject at all rather than give such a warped message based on eisegesis. The various problems associated with the post-trib rapture have been pointed out to Joe Schimmel and his team on a number of occasions. They have yet to address these issues. Joe Schimmel would do far better to go back to the scriptures and take the time to reconsider his position. If I remember correctly, his recapitulation view is based on a (supposed) revelation he received from the Lord in his early days as a Christian. He was obviously genuinely convinced by this revelation, but I say, does it correspond with the scriptures? (1 John 4:1).

  1. Great rundown Treena. Victorinus sounds as allegorical as Origen! I am surprised that someone who exposes charismatic error can trust in personal, direct revelations. Then again, others do it too which just reminds me that we have to be discerning about everyone. The only direct revelation I am interested in is contained in the scriptures. Following personal revelations as a deceived charismatic brought much ruin to my life. I escaped in the nick of time.
    I don't put Joe in this category, but check out "prophets" Joshua T Giles and Emma Stark. Charismania has descended to the next level! Truly shocking that so many follow this overt mysticism.
    My best to you, Mike

    Also, I like much of what The Outback Berean has to say, but it is unfortunate that he has embraced errors such as Absolution via his mentor Chris Rosebrough Many ex-charismatics seem to wind up in Calvinism or Lutheranism and then switch off their discernment radars.

  2. Personal revelations can be very powerful, especially when they appear to contradict error, in this case the pre-trib rapture. Joe Schimmel and Chad Davidson seem resolved to continue teaching post-trib despite being made aware of the problems. Sadly, they remind me of other leaders I have encountered who shut their ears to sound teaching and close ranks. It is a shame when leaders think they can continue blindly when challenged and upstage the Word of God.
    Thank you for the information Mike.
    God bless.

  3. Hi again,
    As she appears to have a huge number of followers, it may be valuable for you to do an article on Emma Stark. She is a Scot and part of an influential group of false prophets in your part of the world.
    It is becoming more difficult to keep up with the plethora of false teachers devouring the flock these days. My best to you, Mike

  5. Why don't these guys focus more on the teachings of Jesus and obeying those before they try to figure out every nook and cranny of eschatology. It will be the teachings of Jesus that we will be judged by (Matthew 25:31-46) not our expertise in eschatology. Bottom line is Christ will one day come back when the Father sends him and until then we occupy and preach the gospel of the Kingdom. All these guys spend their time warring over the most minute points of end times doctrine.

  6. To be fair to Joe Schimmel and Blessed Hope, they do preach the gospel. Eschatology is important - it takes up a major part of the scriptures.
