Todd White recently made the following blasphemous statements in an appalling perversion of 2 Corinthians 5:21: For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Oh, you have to hear this man. Jesus who knew no sin, became sin. Paul describes sin; gossip, slander. Imagine Jesus as a gossip. You can’t. He didn’t do it. He became it. I’m like seeing this for the first time. Like I’ve read the Scripture so many times that I’m seeing it and I’m like, ‘you (Jesus) became gossip.’
What!? It’s hard for us to think about it because Jesus, never gossiped. But he became gossip. On the tree he became gossip. On the tree became a slander. Did he slander, no, he became it! He became enslaved, became haughty, he became boastful, he became an inventor of evil.
Jesus became an inventor of evil on that tree. Jesus became child pornography on that tree. Listen! Jesus became full of child pornography on the tree. Jesus became a thief on the tree. Jesus became addiction on the tree. Jesus became a hater of God on the tree. What does it mean for him to become sin? Jesus became lost on the tree. Jesus became Satan worship on a tree.
Are you hearing me? This is really hard to even say, yet it’s true. What does it mean that he knew no sin but became sin? Jesus became bestiality on a tree. Jesus became sex-trafficking on a tree. Oh my gosh. Jesus became every lustful thought on a tree. It’s no joke, it’s real. Jesus became child molester on a tree. Jesus became Taliban: Christian murderer on a tree. Jesus became sacrificing babies on a tree.{1}
Jesus, our Jesus became that on the tree. That’s what it means when he who knew no sin became sin."
The phrase "made sin" indicates an identification with sin and sinners. Christ's death (like the offering of Isaiah 53:6) was the sacrifice that takes away sin.
Matthew Poole: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: Christ knew no sin, as he was guilty of no sin; Which of you (saith he, John 8:46) convinceth me of sin? 1 Peter 2:22, He did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: but God made him to be sin for us. He was numbered with the transgressors, Isaiah 53:12. Our sins were reckoned to him; so as though personally he was no sinner, yet by imputation he was, and God dealt with him as such; for he was made a sacrifice for our sins, a sin offering; so answering the type in the law, Leviticus 4:3,25,29 5:6 7:2.
That we might be made the righteousness of God in him; that so his righteousness might be imputed to us, and we might be made righteous with such a righteousness as those souls must have whom God will accept. As Christ was not made sin by any sin inherent in him, so neither are we made righteous by any righteousness inherent in us, but by the righteousness of Christ imputed to us; as he was a sinner by the sins of his people reckoned and imputed unto him.
But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. (2 Peter 2:1-3).

Hi Treena. I have heard these appalling statements made by White. It appears that charismatic healers with Todd as their first name should be run from as fast as possible.
ReplyDeleteThe Gill quote is good, but is he a Calvinist? They tend to say Christ died for "the sins of HIS PEOPLE" rather than for "the sins of the world" in reference to their doctrine that Christ only died for the ELECT. I heard the current pastor of Spurgeon's Church in London misquote John the Baptist saying "Behold the lamb of God eho taketh away the sins of HIS PEOPLE", whereas John actually said
"... who taketh away the SIN of the WORLD"(John 1:29).
I am now on the lookout for Calvinist doctrine slipped in by stealth into otherwise sound teaching. My best to you, Mike
Yes Gill was a Calvinist Mike... I had not picked up on "the sins of all his people". I will see if there is an alternative quote and I will replace it. There is something wrong when teachers do not quote the Word of God in a straightforward way. Thank you.

That’s a very good point, Mike. It’s such a pity that the writers of the New Testament got it so wrong. John 3:16 - ‘For God so loved the elect that…’
ReplyDeleteBut it’s seriously disturbing that (a) Todd White should preach such blasphemous lies; (b) he didn’t or wouldn’t hear the Holy Spirit telling him how wrong he was; and (c) his audience didn’t rise up and either walk out, or drag him off stage.
Todd needs either to repent, or Todd-le off into the sunset. Hands up anyone who thinks he will do either of those things. No, me neither.
I see that the video is no longer available John! There are other videos up from Justin Peters and John MacArthur, but once again I don't want to promote the Calvinists.
