grace distorted: the hypocrisy of jacob prasch moriel ministries!

Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgement of God? Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgement will be revealed. (Romans 2:3-5)

Is it credible to believe that the Lord has been waiting for two thousand years or so to reveal the intra-seal rapture and the identity of the Restrainer to Jacob Prasch? This emphatic teaching that JP insists we should "pay attention to" has profound implications for our understanding about grace during the 70th week of Daniel. JP's identification of the Holy Spirit as the Restrainer and His supposed departure from the world during the 70th week of Daniel is a teaching which effectively demolishes grace and suppresses the gospel during the final seven years of history. As such it is no small matter! If we are in our right senses, we should consider the identity of the Restrainer a secondary question. If it were primary, then I believe the Lord would have ensured that it was included in the scriptures! Jacob Prasch has some very different ideas however! As it is, the gospel is called an everlasting gospel which will be proclaimed until the end of the age. (Revelation 14:6; Matthew 24:14) Believers are instructed to preach the gospel in season and out of season (2 Timothy 4:2). During the great tribulation Jesus Christ himself tells us that this is our opportunity to bear witness: ".....for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict." (Luke 21:15).

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)

JP's teaching on the Restrainer in 2 Thessalonians is the most convoluted teaching I have ever heard. I have found it difficult to establish which part of the 70th week of Daniel he refers to when he frequently talks about "this period", but I have finally established that he refers to the entirety of the 70th week as the period when grace supposedly comes to an end, the Holy Spirit is taken from the world and believers will no longer be able to preach the gospel. The scriptures he quotes to support his arguments fall down under exegetical investigation and are very puzzling indeed. JP seems to "forget" his golden rule that the 'pesher' (spiritual interpretation) depends on the 'peshet' (literal interpretation) in his midrashic hermeneutic. He also seems to "forget" his frequent admonition: "A text out of context and isolation from its co-text is always a pretext."

I have quoted JP verbatim below:

JP: "Pentecost is reversed... the same as Jesus went and sent the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit goes and sends Jesus. In that interim period you have a powerless church that cannot fulfil its mission any more. 'work while you have the light; night comes - no man can work.' Does this mean the Holy Spirit is taken from us as individuals? No! What happened in John 20 is forever 'I will never leave you or forsake you.' .....but what happened at Pentecost is over. There is no longer conviction of sin, no more grace, now he is getting ready to be the God of wrath again. Pentecost is reversed..... That period of powerless in the interim is 'the shattering of the power of the Holy people.' This is where the pre-wrath people get it wrong..... There is a difference between the Holy Spirit indwelling and the Holy Spirit outpoured. {1}

JP's use of the metaphor "the night" in the gospel of John is taken completely out of context.

We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. (John 9:4; 12:35 cf. John 8:12)

In John chapter 9, Jesus heals a man born blind. When he uses the metaphor of "the night", and the phrase "no man can work",  Jesus refers to his death. The term "day" above refers to the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, night is coming, meaning in this context his arrest and execution. Jesus referred to Himself as the light of the world (John 9:4). Jesus predicts his death: The light is among you for a little while longer. Walk while you have the light (John 12:35).

The night is also indicative of the last half of the 70th week (1 Thessalonians 5:2; Matthew 25:6; Luke 17:34), but without a primary meaning in John 9, we cannot apply the isolated phrase "no man can work" to the 70th week of Daniel exegetically. JP has spiritualised this phrase out of context since it cannot be established that 'the night' in John 9 refers to the tribulation from the peshet point of view.

Further instances where JP does the exactly same thing:

*JP: "As translated by The New Testament Greek, Jesus clearly and directly refers to the 'Beginning of Birth pangs' as "Thelipsis" / TRIBULATION in John 16:21 .....in this same John chapter 16 in verses 20-22, Jesus speaks of His Second Coming as being proceeded by the Birth Pangs seen in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and as is illustrated in the vision of the woman in travail in Revelation chapter 12." {2}

I have demonstrated in my previous post that thlipsis in John 16:21 does not refer to persecution/tribulation at all, rather it refers to the disciples sorrow after Jesus' execution.{2} The scriptures themselves DO NOT refer to the entirety of the 70th week as tribulation as JP claims. It is important to notice that the beginning of birth pains/the four horsemen are WORLD WIDE PHENOMENA, they do not apply specifically to the tribulation of the church and they are not connected to the removal of the Restrainer. The text below clearly indicates that tribulation follows the first 3.5 years of world wide phenomena i.e. the beginning of birth pains:

And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. THEN they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death.....   (Matthew 24:4-8; cf. Mark 13:3-13; Revelation 12).

*JP applies the phrase: "the shattering of the power of the holy people" to the persecuted church during the great tribulation (Daniel 12:7). This is yet another peculiar view of JP in contradiction to the traditional view that it refers to the Jewish people.{2}

*The Age of Grace is referred to by dispensationalists as the Dispensation of Grace or the Church Age. The Church Age began at Pentecost and ushered in the fullness of the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. The completion of the times of the Gentiles will occur at the end of the age when the full inclusion of the Jews takes place and they are "grafted into their own olive tree" (Romans 11:1-36). In other words, grace does not end until the completion of the 70th week of Daniel.

They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:24 cf Revelation 11:2)

Alan Kurschner: " Revelation 11:2 indicates that the end of Jerusalem’s trampling by Gentiles culminates with the end of the second half of Daniel’s Seventieth Week.(10)..... John writes in Revelation 11:2, 'Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread [trample] under foot the holy city for forty-two months.' The grammatical and theological parallels between this verse and Luke 21:24 establish a clear termination point for the 'times of the Gentiles.' Not surprisingly, it is exactly as Daniel 9:24 indicated." {3}

Ironically, JP mercilessly attacks and reviles others for their faulty eschatology and false teaching. However, I would suggest that his own "errors" are perhaps just as dangerous, if not more so. We should consider with some trepidation the ramifications of identifying the Holy Spirit as the Restrainer. Doesn't JP misrepresent God Himself since the Holy Spirit is omnipresent? (Psalm 139:7). Doesn't JP also misrepresent the critical seven year period at the end of time when there will be widespread delusion (2 Thessalonians 2:11)? The warning from Jesus Christ is: Let no one deceive you in any way. (2 Thessalonians 2:3). If JP's distortions were due to stupidity then perhaps he would have more of an excuse. As it is, I cannot account for such distortions of the scriptures other than to conclude that they are a deliberate attempt to mislead the Body of Christ during the 70th week of Daniel. Beware of this hypocrite he is very dangerous!

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20).

  1. Treena,
Many salient points raised. As I have alluded to many times before; JP's Pentecostal Charismatic theology allows him to believe in on-going revelation (that is the Bible is not sufficient), therefore it shouldn't surprise us that such an one would "go out on a limb" and say "PAY ATTENTION!"? He believes that he has a "hot-line" to God, otherwise why would he speak thus?

When you refer to Dispensationlist teaching above; could you clarify to your readers when exactly the "times of the Gentiles" started, and, also when the "church age" started? The NT church was empowered at Pentecost, no doubt! Certainly, the grace of God will be with us to the very, very end!

I would agree with AK regards Revelation 11.2, and what he states.

    God bless.

  2. The "times of the Gentiles" begins in Daniel 1-when Israel for their repeated transgressions were given over into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, and the Babylonian empire became the dominant empire in the earth. Without exception, I believe you will find all prophecy 'experts' (post & pre-trib) including JP, would agree on this.
    God bless.

  3. Yes you are right Colin. The 'fullness of the Gentiles' is associated with Pentecost and the end of the age - the 'times of the Gentiles' are as you say. I have made the correction. God bless

  4. Incredibly Colin JP has recently released a 15 minute video: "Jacob Prasch Excerpts: Don't Go Beyond What Is Written, Apostolic Example & Instruction." He says that those who exceed what is written cause a barrier to fellowship! A very interesting teaching which he does not apply to himself! Incredibly he talks about those who exceed what is written being very hostile to anyone who challenges them! This is precisely his own behaviour.... quite an extraordinary piece of hypocrisy.

  5. I need an honest viewpoint as to what I am experiencing for 5 months now. I got saved by The Lord August last year and since then professed my faith in Him but I kept getting attacked in dreams and got scared I thought I needed deliverance.. Called a "deliverance ministry" and they prayed over me and nothing happened. I didn't realize that I'm not possessed since it's impossible. And so I went on with life but the nightmares won't stop. I just prayed to God that they leave me. I went to church 5 times a week back then and was growing but I got exposed to false teachings when I went back to school and neglected fellowship in our church. One day I experienced weird sensations in my body. (Ringing in ears, limbs would move by itself, crawling under skin, pressure on forehead) now I don't know what to do. I was a healthy 20 year old but this in my body which I know is because of the videos I watched I'm losing hope now. What should I do. I feel condemned. And I can't feel the fruits of the Holy Spirit anymore. I feel worse than an unbeliever. Been suicidal now for 5 months

  6. Hi Maj, My suggestion would be to keep reading the Bible and whenever you are attacked to pray. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7). If you can find some fellowship that would be good, but it is difficult these days. I shall be praying for you, and I do ask any of my readers who read this to pray. Deliverance "ministry" will do you more harm.. you will just get into bondage if you do that. Try to find someone to pray with and keep standing. I believe the Lord will set you free, but sometimes it is a battle rather than instantaneous.

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication." (Ephesians 6)

    God bless.

  7. Maj,
When I first believed, I came under fierce spiritual attack; very shortly after I was fully immersed, and somehow held to the strange notion of baptismal regeneration!!
I thought I couldn't sin anymore! I tried to lead a perfect life, but fell so very short!
Remember that Jesus saved His people from their sins, that is the sins they commit before becoming a believer, and also AFTER! Forget the 'victorious life' nonsense. Sinners we were born, and sinners we will die. We only receive our perfect resurrection bodies at the Second Coming-1 Corinthians 15.42-45 (read the whole chapter). "In the flesh dwelleth no good thing." Romans 7.18.
"If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His Word is not in us." 1 John 1.8-10.

As believers we SHOULD make every effort to walk according to God's Word-"If ye love me, keep My commandments." John 14.15. This is our way of living-the way to life is through His Atoning blood.
I have been through that unbiblical 'deliverance' ministry nonsense as well; "nothing happened" as you said! We don't need to put our faith in some 'deliverance guru' but in Christ ALONE! "For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2.5.

There is a recent article on this blog about 'deliverance' ministry.

As Treena said "KEEP reading the Bible", and pray earnestly to God in Christ; "acknowledge Him in ALL your ways, and He shall direct thy paths" Proverbs 3.6, but read the context.
Let us not fear, because "fear hath torment" as you are experiencing ("you got scared").
"Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you." 1 Peter 4.12, again read the context.

    Keep the Faith.
    God bless.

  8. Hello Maj Treena and Colin have given you the best advice. The bible and prayer are the way to go. All your brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the world and in all time periods experience attacks from our common enemy. We all have struggles so remember you are not alone or unique. When you were saved God raised you up and seated you in the heavenly realms with Christ Ephesians 2:6. One of the things this means is that you are at rest. You don't have to struggle or exert mental effort. You may have been exposed to an unclean spirit but even if this is so it has no rights over you or authority over you. Christ is your Lord and saviour and he will guide you as you study and pray.

I would also advise that you visit your GP and describe the physical symptoms just to rule out natural disease. I too experienced physical manifestations many years ago after being introduced to unbiblical practices. Unlike you I welcomed it thinking it was the Holy Spirit at work and still God was merciful and led me away from it and into true fellowship based only on the bible. You are clearly repentant because the Holy Spirit has revealed the truth to you. I will pray for you. Please let us know how you are doing.

    God bless you Maj

    Nick

  9. These "deliverance ministries" seek to put themselves in between you and the Lord. Antichrist means "in place of" and not only "against". The RC Church put themselves "in place of" Jesus Christ in the sacrament of confession. We do not need an intermediary, only Jesus Christ. The prayers of other Christians are valuable of course, but you do not need anyone else to mediate for you in order to be free (1 Timothy 2:5). Deliverance groups can be addictive but they only lead to confusion and bondage. God is not the author of confusion Maj.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

    God bless

  10. We here in the States will be praying for you also, Maj. And there's excellent spiritual support for you also on this page hosted by Treena. God bless you, Maj; you certainly are very important to the Lord who loves you more than any of us can express!

  11. I think there are probably two problems here Maj. First a lack of scriptural knowledge. You talk about having the mark of the Beast. This is not possible. The mark will be put on people around in the great tribulation. It will be a physical act brought about by a world leader. We do not have a world leader do we? Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." You need to understand truth which is found only in the bible. There is no condemnation for those in Christ. Read Romans, it explains what the gospel is. Ask questions if you have problems understanding anything.

Secondly, you really don't sound very well at all. You talk about drugs and suicidal thoughts. Are you in the UK? Do you have access to a doctor? The bible has examples where medicine is talked about positively. Luke was a physician. Isaiah talks about medicine. Jesus told the story of the Samaritan that bound and oiled the wounds of a man attacked by robbers.

Finally, what is the gospel? What is your understanding of it? You sound confused Maj and we all want to help.

  12. As this post is about "grace distorted.."
Lets get back to the subject matter?
I hope Maj is progressing in God's word, and may His grace keep us ALL? Paul said "My grace is sufficient for thee..." 2 Corinthians 12.9, and is it not for ALL true believers? "There but for the GRACE of God go I." These are the words attributed to John Bradford, an English protestant martyred for his faith in Christ-ALONE.

Bradford believed that God's saving GRACE would be on this earth right up to the Second Advent of Christ in glory. Would any say otherwise?

I believe for Prasch to say otherwise, puts himself at great variance with those souls that uttered the words "How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?" Revelation 6.10?

Much has been said (from Dispensational theologians, that is) that there are "TWO gospels", that is the "gospel of the kingdom" Matthew 24.14, and the "gospel for the church" 1 Corinthians 1.15.1-4, for example (others can be adduced). But, a simpleton like me can see that these are synonyms for the very SAME gospel! In 2 Chronicles, the 7th chapter (ALONE!), the "House of the LORD, or "the LORD's house" is mentioned 5 times, "the house of God" once, and "the house of sacrifice" once. Are there THREE houses? No! there is ONE temple! The three synonyms speak of the SAME house/temple!

Grace is when we get what we don't deserve, mercy is when we don't get what we DO deserve!

Without God's grace, we would all be "up a creek without a paddle!"

    God bless.

  13. Thank you Colin.

Moriel have very recently put this statement up on their website:

"Moriel and Jacob Prasch reject the concept new or further doctrinal revelation (Revelation 22:18). The scripture simply teaches an ever clearer understanding however of what is already revealed in God's Word concerning The Last days (Daniel 12: 4), which is the very meaning of the Greek term 'Apocalypsis'."

    https://www.moriel.org/component/k2/item/2680-moriel-gets-questioned-and-we-respond.html

Whatever "understanding" we have about the last days should find support from the scriptures, and I am afraid JP's "intra-seal" theory simply does not pass the test. To "reverse Pentecost" during the 70th week is nothing less than heretical! JP changes the whole dynamic of the gospel for that period of time..

"For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough."
    2 Corinthians 11:14

In the very next verse Paul says: "..... I consider that I am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles." (v5)

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14)

    God bless

  14. Yes, there is but ONE gospel! The "gospel of the grace of God." Acts 20.24.

Clearly, JP/Moriel felt a pressing need to put such a statement on their website, I wonder why?

As you say, whatever "understanding" we have, "should find support from the Scriptures."
This "understanding" MUST be restrained by the boundaries of God's written word; comparing Scripture with Scripture, it is one thing to say "I have a theory", altogether another to say "thus saith the Lord".

I believe Moriel still has David Noakes 'prophecy' up on their site? This betrays Moriel's latest statement, does it not? (Noakes speaking in the first Person). It matters not whether or not what Noakes said is good and plausible, DID God give him "new or further doctrinal revelation" as Moriel JP puts it? Who knows what Noakes and others like him may say in the future? They may cause people to stumble.

    God bless

  15. Colin.. I do wonder whether Moriel's recent statement was "engineered".. Maybe. In fact someone else said the very same thing to me yesterday.

The David Noakes "prophecy" is a very good point as well. They are full of contradictions aren't they?

I am writing yet another post in view of Moriel's recent statement which I hope to publish shortly.

    God bless
