PULPIT AND PEN'S BIG SCOOP ON SERVUS CHRISTI: GUTTER PRESS TACTICS

Servus Christi Imports Bride, Fakes Marriage, Sends Her Back After Consummation
https://pulpitandpen.org/2020/08/24/servus-christi-imports-bride-fakes-marriage-sends-her-back-after-consummation/

JD Hall's article and associated video above amounts nothing less than degenerate tabloid newspaper style gossip, supposition and speculation. The scoop was preceded by a tacky countdown clock to "The Terminus of Servus Christi" (aka Joshua Chavez) promising to reveal his life of sin ~ or in JD Hall's terms “beating the weeds”.

I do not dispute that Joshua Chavez is a wily character and is someone to be avoided. His dogged support for Jacob Prasch is insupportable. He willfully ignores Prasch's theological errors and abuses while at the same time mercilessly attacking others. Chavez's support for Prasch may benefit him in some way, although ultimately I believe it will prove to be a snare. (Jeremiah 5:31). Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? (Romans 2:3).

Despite his double standards, his obvious anger issues and his dubious motives, Chavez's exposure of various Calvinists has been accurate on many levels. Although I am convinced that Chavez is not approved by God, it seems clear that God has used him in a certain way to expose many things that have gone unchecked in the Calvinist camp. These recent exposures of the double standards and rank hypocrisy of the Calvinists are not before time!

JD Hall has Chavez down as a "sectarian minimalist heretic". While that may be true in Chavez's case, Hall is wrong to condemn countless numbers of Christians worldwide who have given up on their "local church" due to blatant apostasy. In my own immediate area there is a choice between various ecumenical denominations, including the Anglican Church, Pentecostal (AG) and a Calvinist church who teach against eternal damnation amongst other heresies. In other words there is no choice! My own understanding of a valid church: For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (Matthew 18:29). What does Hall suggest these countless numbers of Christians do for fellowship without compromising the gospel? What does Hall define as "heretical" when his own camp are so very far off the mark? I refer to John MacArthur's advice that people can take the mark of the beast and be saved.. and Phil Johnson's waffling on the subject. I refer to Doreen Virtue's demonic vision of Jesus which was accepted by Lutheran pastor Chris Rosebrough and others until Chavez challenged it. Chris Rosebrough's heretical beliefs and practices include infant baptism, baptismal regeneration, consubstantiation, amillennialism, confession to a priest ~ and yet he is unquestionably accepted by the Calvinists. The Calvinists are a bit like the Freemasons, they always back each other up irrespective of the truth, and they never admit that they are in the wrong. {2} Justin Peters is the only Calvinist I have known to admit that he was wrong and I exclude him from these remarks.

AND SO TO THE BIG SCOOP

Let's examine the details:

JD Hall has made full use of the woman's testimony that Chavez is a human trafficker.
JD Hall: "Little did any of us know that amidst these videos and tirades, Chavez was trafficking in humans, using women for sex and money.. Notice that JD Hall uses plural nouns (i.e. humans ~  women). In reality Hall has ONE woman's own perception of her experience. We need to see solid evidence that Chavez was actually involved in human trafficking rather than basing our opinion on the negative experience of one woman and the suppositions of JD Hall:

“I honestly think he is an evil man and God knows his intentions may be that of a human trafficker.”

"The woman is currently seeking to restore their marriage, even if it can be rightly characterized as 'human trafficking.'”

The woman would have a very difficult time legally proving a charge of "human trafficking" against Chavez. According to the Human Rights Commission the three most common types of human trafficking are sex trafficking, forced labor, and debt bondage. "Some survivors are 'mail-order' brides who believe they are going to a new country for marriage, but instead are enslaved.{1} This woman was not "enslaved".

JD Hall says that the woman had professional job in South Africa.. and then he contradicts himself saying that her job was not that lucrative.
Apparently Chavez's motive apart from sex was "desiring that she work in a professional field in order to finance his ministry", but her three month visa did not allow her to get a job in the US. This does not make sense. Why did the woman obtain a temporary visa if she intended to marry Chavez and stay in the country?
JD Hall: "Reportedly, Chavez’s mother is overbearing and 'controls him.' " (this is gossip ~ 2 Corinthians 12:20).
JD Hall: "Allegedly, the young woman had a fair amount of financial savings."
If this allegation is correct, then the woman was by no means vulnerable or in a position of powerlessness.

So essentially we have an attractive professional woman with a fair amount of financial savings travelling to the US from South Africa on a three month visa to marry Chavez after a short internet romance, knowingly participating in a fake marriage, going on "honeymoon" and sleeping with Chavez, and then playing the victim. The woman says that Chavez has the "Jezebel spirit" and is "an evil man". And she wants to reconcile with him! What woman in her right mind would want to restore a fake marriage with an evil man and a human trafficker? Why would an attractive professional woman with money be so desperate or stupid to do such a thing? The whole thing is totally bizarre!  This woman's story would not stand up in court.

When I mentioned these things to JD Hall on his website comments he responded by calling me a "victim blaming sycophant" and then followed up with a GIF saying "I'm your Huckleberry" (whatever that means).

Tim Wirth obviously agrees:

WHERE ARE THE FACTS JD HALL?

Hall: "While rumors have circulated for over a year that Chavez recently had a live-in girlfriend (while working for Moriel) with whom he soon eloped and then immediately divorced, we were unable to verify that information. That is, we were unable to verify the information until her concerned friends from various support groups reached out to us with their desperate pleas for help. We have since been able to verify their accounts through various sources to the best of our journalistic ability. And we have cross-referenced those accounts with correspondence sent us that originated directly from his female victim. But the story is even worse than has been whispered."

Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. (2 Corinthians 13:1).

JD Hall has obtained his information from various "support groups" whom he describes as "concerned friends" rather than from the woman herself. I believe the purpose of JD Hall's "countdown clock" may have been to draw her out, but as far as I am aware she has not contacted him personally. It appears that this woman has been abused by two predators, once allegedly by Chavez, and once by JD Hall, who has published this information without her consent.

To conclude: JD Hall has scored an own goal in his self righteous exposure of Chavez. As Christians, we need to see provable facts before we make any kind of judgement in this matter. (1 Peter 2:1).

  1. Perceptive article, Treena.
I am not surprised at Hall's offhanded and immature treatment of you. These people can dish it out but they cannot take it. (Rosebrough is also very much in this category).
I think I understand the "I'm your Huckleberry" retort. He is quoting the line made by Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in the movie TOMBSTONE. He says it a few times when threatened before he murders a "bad guy" in a shoot out.(Quite a good movie, although pretty violent).
Have just noticed that Rosebrough has put out a video on Chavez. My guess is it will not be even handed. His overdose of anti-Prasch videos resembled a personal vendetta and was in itself "Prasch-like". I found the section in Prasch's response video in which Rosebrough as a priest states "I forgive you" in place of God to his repentant congregation quite shocking. "Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
As the issue re Chavez is moral/legal and not doctrinal, these men may be at risk of valid litigation on charges of libel/slander. If this woman has a case, she should seek legal advice. If she does, the usage of her plight for public vilification may work against her cause.
    My best to you, Mike

  2. P. S. Here is an eye-opening article on Calvinism and statements made by certain, high profile ones:

    https://www.redeemingmoments.com/2015/03/13/the-total-depravity-of-certain-calvinists/?fbclid=IwAR0tp6b7PgBc8jZTo8OZrlX1JHZR8xsWgZ1iPHw79vE8-YfWd3jie5qIKAY

Although good came from the first Great Awakening, Jonathon Edwards appeared to lean towards the doctrine of Infant Damnation, surely one of the worst teachings in this perverse distortion of the gospel.

  3. I should amend "Freemasons" to "Mafia" Mike.. I will await their "payback" with interest ~ maybe they will ask their capo dei capi "MacArthur" how to deal with me. Seriously though, who do they think they are?
I watched Rosebrough's latest last night. Their problem is that much of what Chavez has reported about them is true - and it has hit them where it hurts. Chavez's viciousness to Justin Peters ruined what was otherwise a good expose'. I will read the links you sent later.
    God bless.

  4. I have added the links to the post Mike. Christians really need to think about the perverted doctrines of Calvinism.. essentially it is "another gospel". (2 Corinthians 11:4).

  5. Dear Treena

A very fair article, as were the Doreen Virtue articles. Praying for your protection. There is much more to this and it is a huge spiritual battle. When I read a review of Deceived no more on amazon.com that a former new ager was saved and now listening to Lutheran teaching, it is clear that the enemy is using Doreen to suck the undiscerning into error. There is still a mixture of New age and Christianity. Please check her videos on Highly sensitive Christians. She has also spoken about the gifts of the spirit before becoming a cessationist, in her book Mornings with the Lord. Have you downloaded her 5 post vision books? Mornings with the Lord, Saints and Angels, Sweet dreams scripture, the Joy of Jesus, Deceived no more?

    God bless you

  6. Thank you for your prayers and for the information Anonymous. I will check out 'Mornings with the Lord' and I will download the vision books.

  7. God bless you Treena. Please also watch her testimony on Millionaire medium from 2017 where she says she was to be a bridge between the New Age and Christianity. She talks wrongly about the gifts in that video and so confuses on the true gifts of the Holy Spirit. Very dangerous what the enemy is doing through her now being a cessationist and Calvinist.

  8. It would be interesting to know exactly when and what caused her to turn to Calvinism Anonymous. We know that she was churning out New Age stuff as late as 2018: 'Messages From Your Angels Calendar 2018' on Amazon.
    Thank you again.

  9. Dear Treena

My concern about all of this and the recent development with your article is that it will become trial by press/journalists and whoever speaks first gets believed. That is not right.

Both sides of the story must be heard out of fairness.

You formulated some initial views in a fair neutral way and you were right at the time to do so. We must not pronounce a definitive opinion without giving an opportunity for both sides to be heard. Ultimately the Lord knows the whole story.

    God bless

  10. Thank you Anonymous. There has been some pressure on me by certain "well meaning" people to remove my remarks about the woman as they perceive them to be detrimental. My intention was to expose JD Hall's tabloid style reporting and to challenge his questionable conclusions. Until we know ALL the facts I will leave the post as it is.
    God bless.

  11. Dear Treena

You are right to leave it as is. JD admitted having to be coaxed to expose this. You have rightly identified where JD used embellishment in the story. He also forewarned of unproven allegations which raises serious issues of his tactics.

You are right in your conclusion that gutter press tactics have been used. JD owes the lady a duty of care. Is this responsible journalism or something else? Why was there a coordinated attack on Jacob Prasch and Joshua Chavez by Chris and Co? Is this really to bring about repentance if the facts were true or revenge (currently the facts are unproven)?
We must continue to pray for all concerned.

    God bless

  12. We must try to remain impartial and not be governed by our various biases and feelings. Prayer is very much needed for all concerned I totally agree.
    Thank you again.

  13. I agree re the article as it stands. You stated the facts and made it clear when you were giving a personal opinion. There are always two sides to every story (sometimes even more!) and there is usually fault /sin on both sides. There are plenty of stories of internet relationships/betrothals which have turned sour or proved to involve fraudulent behaviour. "Enter at your own risk" should be the forewarning to all re this method of spouse-seeking. If there was a period of living together (even without sexual activity) before marriage, then neither party were "avoiding the appearance of evil". As the marriage itself was fake and led to abuse and deportation, I too question the sanity of someone wishing to persist in such a relationship.
I noticed the mention of salacious, unproven allegations by JD. Mentioned then for what purpose other than character assassination? Tabloid press tactics is an accurate description. My best to you, Mike

    1. Hi Mike and Treena
You are both so right to stick to the FACTS! Mike, when you said ‘I question the sanity of someone wishing to persist in such a relationship’ I started thinking about cases of domestic and/or sexual abuse where the abused becomes dependent on the abuser. Is that the case here? I don’t know! Nor will I guess or speculate. That’s why I like this site - you deal in FACTS (sounds like Gradgrind from Hard Times!). Oh, if this sounds like I’m getting at you Mike I’m not! Someone even wiser than JD said that knowing the TRUTH (sorry about all the caps) will set us free. JD’s speculation and innuendo are different from facts and truth.

    2. In my view JD Hall's article is tantamount to defamation of character. It will be interesting to see how Chavez responds.. and I think he must respond for the sake of his reputation.

  14. I agree Mike. I am not unsympathetic towards the woman. I am surprised she was not counselled by her parents or her Christian friends about the wisdom of such an attachment, but as you say we don't know the details.
    God bless.

  15. Hi John.
I did not think you were "getting at me" at all.
I can't really hazard a guess at what is motivating the victim here, but going by her words it appears to me that she thinks the marriage to Chavez was legitimate in God's eyes and she feels bound to honor it regardless of all the mistreatment. If this is so, it is a "hyper-spiritual" but irrational approach to this unfortunate situation and places her in bondage in my opinion. In this case, I believe guidance from the scriptures is called for. It would appear she was deceived into a false marriage and was being taken advantage of, thus she is a victim who has been sinned against and only needs to repent for making some unwise choices which made her vulnerable. I doubt that she was in this set-up long enough to be in a dependant-abusive relationship of the kind you referred to. My best, Mike

  16. Hi Treena, re the information given by Tim, I agree with you that knowingly not applying for a marriage license so that a "marriage" can be legally dissolved /annulled after consummation is descipicable. It looks then to be a premeditated move for an easy "out" should the bride not live up to expectations, financial or otherwise. If I was her, I would be happy that an ocean is between them! My best, Mike

    1. I hope that in time she will see the Lord's hand in the outcome. It is a blessing in disguise that she has escaped an attachment to such a man as Chavez. He and Prasch cause havoc wherever they go.

  17. Tim's comment amended:

They should have just kept the facts the facts. They were quite enough. Josh is married to this woman by exchanging vows instead of actually getting a marriage license. I have seen the wedding picture as well as Prasch did witness this ceremony through a computer application. Ok so we can say well the scriptures do not make marriage licenses a thing but I would say scripture teaches us to obey the laws of the land so they should have. So Josh is married and I would ask why is his wife not living with him and when does he plan on making this right with her? He should also help financially support his wife. Is he doing this and again why are they apart? This could have been kept so simple because the fact that Josh married someone and then sent them away (or they left) whatever should be taken care of before Josh makes any attempts at ministry again. He is not loving his wife as Christ loves the church. And xxxxxx has stated that people could contact Moriel to verify that Josh and xxxxxx are married. This is not a good witness for anyone.

  18. I left a comment on Joshua's video asking him to perhaps give his side of the story and make a video explaining what happened, but he has deleted my comment. This is quite curious to me. Why wouldn't he want to respond? Unless he actually does have things he wants to hide.

  20. Thanks for the link to "The Ministry Mafia." I visit Servus Christi a lot and don't know how I missed it. I wish I would've found it a long time ago. Thanks for your recent article "Prasch Crash." I'm glad to hear Chavez has cut ties with him. I never could understand what he got out of that relationship anyway. The first time JD Hall crossed my radar I had no idea who he was. I watched an interview he did with some guy, apparently after "The Ministry Mafia" came out because he talks about some of the things Chavez said. As I watched, I got the very eerie feeling I was listening to a sociopath. I've thought for a long time his story about Chavez was full of holes. I've tried watching some of Chris Rosebrough but that guy is a serious pompous a**. Much more so than Joshuah Chavez ever thought about being. That's all. I just stumbled on some of you articles and wanted to comment.
